Recently purchased a 2016 V8 Vantage GT and am exploring the possibility of sending the center console (waterfall / ski slope) to ECPS for a carbon fiber upgrade. The piano black is a dust magnet and shows all of its scratches. I can't seem to find any forum posts or youtube videos about the removal of this dash version, which is specific to the 2016 model year. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I believe you will need to remove you center console, arm rest, shifter, to get at the screws at the bottom. This video is an older model DB9, but I would bet it will be very similar. There are other videos on how to unlatch the navigation screens to lift up the top part of the waterfall. Good luck, I would ask the AM dealer.
I was able to get the center console out with the following help:
This video showed me how to get the armrest out, which is different than the earlier Vantages. Only video I found that showed the later MY Gaydon Vantage armrest removal procedure.
He doesn't show it in the video, but these are the bolts he's referencing:
This photo of a center console for sale that I found online showed me the mounting points. 2 screws at the bottom accessible after removing the armrest and then the shifter/plate. At the top, there are 2 hooks that loop into the dash. In the center just below the air vents are two clips.
Here's the console removed. I actually cracked one of the fragile plastic pieces that the middle clips go into.
I used a cheap right angle pick (part of a $2 set from harbor freight) to slide between the leather and the center console below the air vents, twist the pick 90 degrees, and gently pull back to dislodge the clip. Did this on each side before finally lifting from the bottom and unhooking from the top.
