Any exhaust valve solutions for 2020+ vantage to keep them open?

It drives me nuts when auto makers don’t allow full, independent exhaust valve control!

I have secondary cat deletes on my 2020 Vantage and the sound/crackles is great in Track mode. Problem is I’m not always interested in paddle shifting (ie coffee) and track mode holds gears too long in general for driving with any traffic.

Sport+ mode shifts gears better for road use, but only partially opens the valves and is not as aggressive sounding as Track drive mode. I know these are electronic valves that are constantly changing and not just open/shut. From what I see you generally get the same result with a quicksilver muffler, and don’t know of an aftermarket muffler that will allow full open valves all the time?

Is there any product that lets me control the valves independently of drive mode? I’ve used a $400 switchpath remote to do this on my Shelby GT350R, which works great until I melted it from track use! The Shelby has a basic open/shut valve setup and has independent control toggle, however two idiotic issues remained (1) 6th gear is always valves closed (until 90mph for some reason) in any setting stock without switch path and (2) even if shut valves they will open during aggressive throttle which makes track use at sound monitored tracks problematic.

Anyway, since Aston hasn’t given us independent valve control, are there any products or solutions to keeping valves fully open in Sport+?

The tricky bit is that the position of the valves is monitored by the ECU for use in ignition timing/fueling etc. The cars are tuned using the variable back pressure the valve position provides. If you defeat the valves or they fail/stick you end up with a CEL and reduced performance state. I imagine that any control of the valves would have to coincide with an aftermarket tune to avoid this.

that makes sense and I agree with you, would need a tune. I’d be fine with that, and unlocking some extra power (not that it doesn’t have plenty stock for a road car). I wonder if it’s as simple as a tune and just disconnecting the valves actuators and then manually opening the valves (presuming you can reach/see them). I’ve just never seen anyone report keeping valves open full time on a 2020+, aftermarket muffler or stock.

Interesting. I wonder how the car will run when tricked? There is a factory employee with great knowledge that is active on the 2018+ FB group. Perhaps check with him re any potential issues?

I’m a member of that group on FB and I don’t recall any negatives even from the knowledgeable!

amazing, thank you! This is exactly what I’m looking for! I also did not know about that Facebook group and will join.

im getting a lift in late summer or early fall, probably will wait for that to do this but might do it on jack stands

Bumping this if there is any feedback on the JXB valve box? It looks like to use with factory muffler you the jam the valves open and the box avoids limp mode, but I suspect it’s intended to work with aftermarket mufflers.

I’d still like some more volume on cruising RPM. It’s pretty solid on high rpm and in track mode, but would like to hear it better on sport+ and cruising.

Yes there are solutions. The simplest answer is you need an aftermarket exhaust valve controller that overrides the factory ECU logic. Those let you force the valves fully open in any mode including Sport+ instead of relying on drive mode behavior. There is no clean factory setting or simple coding fix that permanently keeps them open without also affecting other drive functions. That is really the only proper way people solve this on the Vantage.

^^^ This is the answer. It is essentially the same exhaust system as is on the AMG GT cars. There are a couple of companies (or were) that sell an addon device that interacts directly as a node on the network. It can override the complex factory setting w/o upsetting the whole system.

Several success stories on the AMG sites and a simple search should get you there.

I bought this for my Vantage. Simple 2 minute installation on a hoist. Love it.

Hell yes, this is exactly what I’m looking for, thank you! Will buy this today!

I have a lift, so 2 minutes you aren’t pulling the bumper lol. What gets removed to get access to the valves?

Nope. If you can reach in there just unplug the OE plug and insert the 11 mode module. You're all set with a lift.

Yes....this is the way you do modern exhaust with electric step motors.

These devices keep the ECU thinking it's in control of the flaps.

this 11 mode is better than the one linked above last year bc the 11 mode can just button press (sadly each time you start the car) keep them fully open, or alternatively press again to return normal car function. The one posted prior simply tricked the ecu to thinking they are open but you still had to manually tack them open or use an aftermarket exhaust (ie it wasn’t actually able to actively control the valves).

ordered.
