Vanquish trunk release keeps activating

I just got a ‘17 Vanquish from Mecum and Saturday and had some buddies drive it home. Took it for a drive yesterday. Today, I hit the trunk button on the remote to get some items and I hear the truck release switch going off non stop.

If I try to shut the trunk it pops right back open.
This happened around 5pm today and took the rear seat panel off and disconnected the battery. Let it sit for 3 mins and same issue came back. Did again and let it sit for 10 mins… same issue

I took the small rectangle panel off near the emergency release cable and noticed a silver cable not connected to the latch. Put that back together and turned off battery. Same issue

So I parked it in the garage and removed the neg terminal connection. Went inside and changed out the battery on the key fob just to check that box

It’s sitting in the garage now and not sure if it will reset itself in the morning.

Can I pull a fuse for the truck release? Tried looking online and can’t find the right fuse

Very frustrating for a new car to me with maybe 20 miles on it.

I’m not new to Aston and have never had this issue.

Any guidance would be wonderful

Thank you

Try this fuse for the rear deck latch. It might be the same layout for the Vanquish, but this is for the DB11.

I've had all sorts of trouble with my trunk latch on my '14 Vanquish, but never this issue.
Most likely, either the latch is out of sync with the microswitches(mechanical issue in the latch), there's a wiring issue, or one of the release buttons(trunk lid or driver door) is stuck on.
I doubt a battery or computer reset will fix it.
If the trunk opens, it shouldn't be hard to diagnose the latch and soft close mechanism, but it will take studying the action and maybe some electrical debug.

Is that inside the car near the rear seats or in the trunk?

Trunk.
There's a metal panel that unbolts, then you can flip the panel forward to access the latch. From there, you can check the operation.
But if it's repeating the opening sequence, something(like a stuck switch) is probably telling the computer to do that. There's a powered latch module driving the trunk release mechanisms, but the switches go through another computer first. Could still be a LIN/wiring issue, though.

Fuse F46 5amp located in the CEM passengers floor. 7- T30 screws to remove panel.
Most likely excessive water has gotten into external release button. Sam as on VH Vantage cars.

Any chance the remote has a sticky button? What happens if you leave that remote in the house, maybe in a metal box and approach the car with the other key?

The cable doesn't look correct, so it may not be working the latch or the soft close correctly. There's a microswitch on the soft close mechanism that signals if the latch is closed or not. I had an issue with this switch on my car. Someone may have fiddled with yours and left the actuation cable disconnected - or the mechanism is broken. So the system may be hunting for the closed or open position.
I don't have my car at the moment and my pics aren't posting. Post a video or pic of the metal latch plate opened up.

I thought the same thing. I changed the battery on the fob and put it inside. Still does it

Here is a video of the fuse box.

this all happened yesterday when I used the remote to open the trunk. The car was outside in the rain the last few days

My guess is water got into the trunk release switch. Remove and disconnect the outside trunk release switch .

Ha can’t seem to stay away. I was the guy that bought the Rossa Corsa ‘11 DBS coupe and hated it. Got a ‘19 DBS Superleggera and loved it but sold it as I felt guilty for all the cars I had. Then sold my ‘14 Vanquish Volante as I was consolidating the collection. Bought my dream car, Diablo roadster, and then got the itch for something else when I went to Mecum this last weekend.

Came home with a ‘65 Cobra roadster and a ‘17 Vanquish 😎

I’ve had a ton of Astons and love them. ‘06 Vantage Roadster, ‘12 Virage Volante, ‘10 DBS Volante, and the ones above

You are the man! Disconnected the trunk switch and no more activation. Thanks again
