V8V Engine Crank after Storage - please help

Gentlemen,

I searched through every forum going back the past 10 years, and although there is a lot of information out there - I am still confused - as some of it appears to be contradictory.
I have a Sportshift I 2009 V8 Vantage with the glass-key. Can someone kindly outline the steps (for dummies like me) of building oil pressure when coming out of winter storage?
I looked at my owners manual and also saw quite a few videos from Bamford Rose, and his recommendation is different than the manual. Here is my understanding:

1. Car is off
2. Fully press on accelerator pedal
3. Insert glass key (how far? all the way in?) until hear engine crank and then remove when engine light goes off from the dashboard

My question is though - when the glass key is fully in, I can't remove it because it's fully slotted in, so do I just not press it all the way in? Will it still crank?
I read some people make mention of making sure the car is in neutral first, but then what exactly are the steps there?

I apologize..please pity me and make it as clear as possible for me to understand this start up procedure. It's my first time.

Regards,

Sadly I don't have a Glass Key AM. But, the key to shutting the fuel injectors off while cranking the car is holding the gas pedal all the way down. Clutch in, in neutral if you are the nervous type, accelerator to the floor and then try to start it. I usually do a 10 count, pause for 15 seconds and then repeat. You don't want to overheat the starter motor. At some point your oil pressure light will go out. It is going to take a bit (3-4 cycles?) but worth doing it.

I have a 2010 SportShift with glass key—never been able to figure this out. For what it's worth, the car has always started up just fine after 3–4 months of storage.

I feel better now. I thought I was the only one not being able to accomplish that step

Appreciate everyone's insight and hoping can have some more members who have the glass key weigh in.

The other (sure fire) way to ensure the injectors don't activate is to pull the fuse for the fuel pump.

It works on all Ford ECU's, . Just press gas pedal all the way to the floor and turn car over. Accelerator and clutch to the floor in my Vantage, accelerator and brake in my Ford cars with automatics. Don't try in the V12 though.

Try to start the car as normal with the exception of your right foot pushing the accelerator to the floor. The red light should come on when the key is in the correct position and the clutch depressed enough.

Crank for 10 or so seconds watching the oil light. Give the starter a break for a minute or two and repeat the above as many times as needed, usually 2 or 3 for me after an oil change.

Don't let off the accelerator when the engine is cranking.

My V8V is a manual, so obviously not the same procedure as a Sportshift, but FWIW: 1) Insert key to ignition position, 2) step on clutch, 3) docking station turns red, 4) throttle firmly to the floor, 5) push key in to crank. The oil pressure light in my car usually goes out within a few seconds when the ambient temp is fairly cold. BTW, when you're ready to let it start you can fully release the throttle (very quickly) and it'll start normally (rather than stop cranking and then do the usual starting procedure).
