Vantage drivers window switch malfunctioning

Hello everyone,

It seems my drivers side window switch is malfunctioning. The window window switches work fine but side mirror buttons are not working along with the little joystick that adjusts the glass. Unfortunately the side mirrors are stuck in the closed position making it unsafe to drive the car. I assume removing the switch is pretty straightforward but just want to know if anyone has done this. I looked in the owners manual to see if there's a specific fuse but could not find. I placed a switch on order with aston martin bits but it will be several days before it gets here. BTW its a 2008 Roadster.
TiA!

I had same exact problem and my door panel was off so I just disconnected and reconnected the harness to the module and it started working again

but online videos says the door module may be on the way out

Thanks Wildcat, good to know. Will start researching modules. I read early module modules can be bought used without reflashing but not sure.

I had the same issue when my battery died. I replaced the battery & passenger side window failed to operate. I disconnected the battery then after reconnecting it worked fine, I reset mirrors & door glass & its been fine since.

sometimes it is easier to just pull the correct fuse from the footwell of the passenger side as it seems that the modules didn't have to proper initialization for some reason. If you replace the Door module be careful as there are 2 different models and if you go with the newer model you have to replace them in pairs, if you go with an older model (probably used) I don't believe it needs coding

Yeah new modules equal a visit to Aston Martin dealership or someone with AMDS to program them to your car

So i saw a videofrom redpants where Richard pulled the fuse for the driver door module (#83) waited a bit then reinserted and his mirrors opened back up. When i did so my mirrors opened up! Unfortunately the window reset procedure on the driver side does not work and my roof will not open, getting a "roof operation not possible " message probably because the window is not dropping. The good thing is that i can drive the car safely and windows work (for now). The door swaitch order was a waste (about $150 for used one including shipping&customs), live and learn. Now onto the modules, hopefully one of the independent in the area have AMDS, i might try to get a quote from local AM dealer for the programing. Thanks!

I thought I had a problem with the door module in my 2016 Vanquish. It turned out to be a different problem, but I learned quite a bit about door modules from John at astonmartinbits.

It might be worth it to send them an email. Apparently you can avoid the AMDS step if you can get a used one that came from a car just like yours.

I think that should work. The donor car would have to be pretty close in configuration. i.e. Vantage *and* LHD *and* roadster. When I replaced my door modules the donor car was RHD which made everything work backwards and upside-down. The driver window switch controlled the passenger window and up/down were reversed. Really weird. AMDS can force the door modules to re-learn the car config from the CEM after they're installed if you can find someone to do it for you.

There are other causes of strange window drop behavior too. The door striker latch microswitches can go bad so the car doesn't know if doors are open or closed. The push/pull cable sleeves for the key/lock and inner/outer handles can break and bind. The door latch and lock push/pull cables together caused the majority of my window and door gremlins. Once I replaced those the doors behave perfectly.

Hoping i can find a used one. My local aston dealer just quoted me over $1000 for each module which are on back or with no eta! Furthermore, they will not program any module if if i were to source it from another vender. Now i understand why they've developed such a notorious reputation over the last few years for gauging owners. Does anyone know of an independent in southern CA that has an AMDS? I just reached out to John at astonbits and waiting for a reply on a used one as they do not have any new ones in stock.
TIA!

Thanks Handyman, their website is a little difficult to navigate but found them. I'll email them to inquire.
