Thinking of parting with my manual V8V

Thinking of selling my MY13 V8 Vantage 6 speed manual with 10k miles. Lighting Silver on black. I looked at the recent selling prices on Cars and Autotrader and even BaT, and they aren’t as much as I thought these desireable stick shifts would sell for. Has people had much success with BaT or Cars and Bid? BaT now charge $99 to use their platform and $330 if you want professional pictures. Even Autotrader is not free anymore and charges $79 to post. Not sure if it’s worth it vs trying selling locally.

In France there is a site called lacentrale.fr it has great rep but you can't add détails, or write a description, pretty ennuying, so for me to argue on some points, I use free site which allows good amount of images and description, this is the most important. Before we use to pay for lacentrale.fr and we could not write a single word, what a pity. So you end up in Leboncoin listing it instead. And it's free.
You need to be free to express yourself and what you ve done with the car. Myself if I was to sell it now I will say this. This car was outside a numbers of hours only, you could calculate with the mileage but other than that it almost never sit or stayed parked outside, very litle time and it does help conserve the interior, all the warranty work on it and Andy Palmer helping, the last month of warranty. Plus all the extra I bought. If I can write this, it's not worth listing it

I would try some of the free resources like here, FB marketplace, and Craigslist first. If you're an AMOC member, a mass email in your region.

I find BAT and like have a bunch armchair know-it-all's that want to bash your car, ask the world of question and have no intent on a real bid. Ask a local detail shop if they know a local photographer for pictures Should be $150ish.

I bought my car from an ad on Built for Backroads. Also, today I saw someone trying to sell his car on the Facebook Aston group.

I would let AMNB take care of it as a consignment. Less headache dealing with tire kickers. My last couple of AMV8s went through them.

I sold our 16 V8 Vantage GTS manual from a listing in the forum marketplace.

No one knows the future, but I imagine a manual, naturally aspirated, relatively reliable V8 sports car will be very valuable in a few years time. Just hasn't had its moment yet.

The Porsche market was so much weaker 12 years ago. Now it's untouchable.

To answer your question though, I feel like Cars & Bids has had some strong sale prices for V8Vs over the years. A local, fellow-enthusiast sale would be strongest, but would also take the most time to find.

I subscribe to a couple of on line auctions just to check on on valuations of my cars and prospects...

sometimes I'm shocked at what people are willing to pay for a car, other times puzzled as to why cars don't sell...

I think it can be a source to evaluate the market... also Classic Cars and perhaps Haggertys can be a good source.

I actually sold one of my BMWs by putting a phone number on the back in hot pink and sold in less than a month...

I've been following 2010+ Manual V* Vantages on BAT for a couple of years. The prices seem super-low right now. I have seen some surprising numbers; and then some cars not making it to reserve. Also, there seems to be a fresh low mileage car available every other week right now. The market seems a little soft right now. Great time to buy, not a great time to sell though.

This and this. Especially if the prices you're seeing are lower than what you were hoping for and you don't need to sell it then I'd consider holding onto it. I'm not the kind of person who would buy a car for an "investment", but even I would be awfully tempted to buy another Vantage and wait to see how prices change if I had the room.

Maybe we're all biased as Aston owners, but they truly aren't making them like they used to.

My friend just sold his BLK/BLK 2013 V8V 6 speed on BAT for $65K. SOlid price, I don't think that you would get much more than that even though the miles are lower. $70K maybe.

A company in San Clemente called We Buy Exotics reached out to me. They wanted me to come to their car show, but I was clear that I’m not interested in lowball offers because these places will typically buy your car and try to resell it for more. Problem with FB marketplace is you get random folks messaging for no real interest.

I have sold private and auction before. Both my last two "fun" cars (996 TT and 2016 V8V GTS) were on BaT. My two cents:

Private party = will most likely get more $ but potentially limited audience. If time is not a factor and you don't mind showing the car to various people, fielding inquiries, this is the way to go.
Auction = will likely get a bit less than market unless timing is "perfect". Buyers factor in the cost of fees as well to their bids so if the car is say worth 70K, high bids may be ~65ish. A much bigger audience in my opinion but also a very limited time the car is "for sale". Of course you can do a reserve to lock in what you are most willing to let it go for.

I have never done consignment but I fee it would be a combination of the two above. Good luck with whatever route you go. I do miss my V8V GTS manual but the consolation prize / upgrade was not too shabby

Take a few pictures and place an ad on here in the For Sale section, you can price it at market or just above and see if anyone is interested. Or as mentioned above drive it to Newport and ask about a consignment deal. I have a friend at West Coast Exotics and they do alot of higher end sales and a few consignment vehicles.
Call or email them to compare fees.
