I went with the R8, there's enough power to get me in serious trouble with law enforcement already, don't see why I'd need anymore but it's always fun. The balance and agility of the R8 is simply amazing while very comfortable and usable around town. My only gripe being that it's so low that it scrapes in my driveway. I'll replace the plastic thingy when I sell it.

If you already have a daily driver, then the R8,it my not be fast fast as the GTR,but it got that Exotic feel, the interior is awesome, its not very common you dont see to many R8 on the road and the R8 will actually be easier to get,as the GTR has a very long wait list. And it MD.

After seeing the R8 and GTR in person it would be hard to pass up but i wouldn't be able to live down the GTR smacking my *** around like a dirty stepchild if i ever stepped onto a track.

The GTR is a BEAST on the track, no doubt. Although, I'm guessing most R8 owners and even GTR owners for that matter, won't be going very often.

In regards to the TDI....I thought audi canned that one and confirmed the NA V10?

R8 hands down for me. Nissan ruined it with the new GTR. The R34 GTR is the original Skyline and thats where it should have ended. Period!

GTR if you're a boy-racer...

R8 if you're a classy man...

This is an excellent question and given a car should stir our emotions when driving it, the R8 wins hands down in every category.

Who cares the GTR is faster - heck a Neon can be made to go faster than some exotics but who wants one? ? ?

The key question from the OP was that if money was no object and you just had to pick a car, I would take the R8 for sure 110%. However even if I had to write the check it would still be the R8 over the GTR. If you are going to dump $80k+ on a sports car it had better look the part and at the end of the night, the GTR just does not look exotic though no one can argue with it's performance.

my 2 cents,
rick

I know some people comment about if you can buy a 100K car then buy both, but in my opinion most people can only afford comfortably 1 car in this range. I'm actually quite surprise you would choose a turbo if it was your only car? I hear the R8 is quite civilized.

Turbo is a 2+2 so that's easy. having driven both i'd also say the Turbo is more civilized maybe because i've had too many 911s in the past?
