Rusnak Audi in Westlake Village has 4 R8s outside - 1 V10 Spyder, 2 V10 Coupes and 1V8 Coupe. They're asking $50K over sticker for the V10s! Is this the going rate or Rusnak's over pricing the market? The triple black spyder is a real looker.

 

They're smoking to put it mildly. Yes, these cars are more rare but they still have four on their lot. I live in AZ and have been quoted MSRP on ordering a new V10 coupe. As winter rolls around, you'll see the dealers in the colder locations start to offer discounts on these cars. I've already heard of this happening at some dealers, although right now they are only offering 1-2K off of sticker. In any case, Rusnak will probably be sitting on their cars for a while at such prices. I do agree with you that the R8 is a looker. Going rate should be MSRP at the most.

 

Saw the same when I drove by last week and that burnt gold color looks pretty neat, and agree that the black spyder looks great. I don't know what the market is on these cars, but $50k over sticker is highway robbery. I have lived in Thousand Oaks for 33 years and never purchased (1) vehicle from Rusnak nor will I ever. Even if I had North Ranch or Sherwood money, I would not spend it there... With all the money floating around the area, you know at least 1 person will pony up the cash and make the next guy that only pays $15k over sticker feel like he got an insane deal.

I saw that paint to sample car on Dupont...50 over? I wish the salesperson luck but IMO they are dreaming and possibly in need of crack counseling.

3K off is the best I have seen on a coupe V10. Look at dealers in harder hit markets. I think the 3 off car was in Detroit or somewhere in that general area of the country.

 

I would try south like SD area.

BTW, is R8 V10 hand made like Gallardo?

 

The R8 is a hand built car. If I'm not mistaken, they only build two-three a day. So, like the Gallardo they are fairly exclusive themselves. Good suggestion on the area of the country to perhaps find a discount on one.

 

Paying anything over for a production car is silly. If you have to have it that bad then so be it, but know you are getting ripped off. Just look back at how many cars were selling over list only to sell at a discount 6 mos later....

For every seat there's an a$$ it it your choice whether or not to sit...

 

I never understood how dealers work out a scam like this. Check the Mercedes SLS on auto trader, prices are all over. Some are straight MSRP and others are quite a few bucks more. I was quoted 1.5 to 2 yrs wait for the R8 back in 08, it was here in less than 7 months. My guess is my $50k is like lunch money to these guys ; D. I am sure someone will pay $X over for it, or the dealers wouldn’t keep doing the same thing. We will never know how much over, unless he/she is willing to share that info here.

Sound better than dealer markup, maybe I am cheap, I just do not see myself paying a dime more than msrp, under msrp is preferred. ; }

 

Paid $5K under sticker for a 2010 V10......back in Feb of this year. No reason to pay more than msrp.

 

My local dealer has one that he is willing to play ball on

I was told privately yesterday I could get 5k under sticker on an order. This was at the dealer. I have bought a number of Audis from a broker and he said 10k is the best he has heard on a "bad" color and expect 2-5k off through him.
