R8 Question?..

I am wondering why there are so many low mileage R8's on the market.Is it possible that people get tired of the car after a short time because it is so exotic or different looking.People seem to keep Porsches for years and years and for some reason I see R8 owners getting rid of there car much quicker.Any opinions on this subject? I am worried that I to might get tired of it very quickly if I buy one....

I think the R8 is a beautiful car, but lacks soul/character compared to a Porsche. This IMHO, but this is how I see these two brands.

I try to drive mine to workdaily, but that round trip is a little less than 20 miles. Have to drive family car on weekend. It is still a great ride, but is it the same level of excitement as the fist 1K miles after 16k miles? Nope. I like to think that is true for any car. It is still a great piece of industry design to admire. It is now for sale if you are interested. ; }

It is time to move on, 2 years of ownership is too short, 3 years is perfect. But that is just me. PM me If you are interested to check it out, or to look at some pics. I have a link with all the pictures and details. Thanks.

as daily driveable as the R8 is, it is still not a practical as a 911. hence, the lower miles.

r8's are getting dumped on the market due to lease terms and owner upgrading to exotics. for the last few years, r8 has enjoyed an unprecedented level of value retention.

Simply put... Audi makes too many R8's. I picked up my 2012 at a steal. There are tons of 2011 still floating around that are brand spanking new. What will this mean? who knows... Probably depreciation straight down to the 70k mark. Although from what I've been hearing, people will start picking these up to twin turbo.

No need to PM. I've already posted it. I paid 7.5k off MSRP. Now I'm thinking that's not that great of a deal.

Wow, guess I haven't been paying much attention. I inquired about pricing 6 months ago at my dealership and they would not budge on MSRP. I was interested in a V8 R-tronic and the 3 they had available were all R10s, 2 spyders IIRC.

I checked with a Mainland dealership and they would do 3% off which came in around $4K but this would have been a wash as I would have had to pay for shipping.

bryansdc - I am more than satisfied with the car.

It is better than my Porsche in fit and finish. Not knocking the Porsche, but when you drive the R8. It feels like an exotic.

The only niggles that I had were a scratched chin spoiler by a careless tow driver when they transported the car which the dealership said they would fix and a small scratch on the underbody of the car where the dealership used a trolley jack to lift the car to change the tire. I always end up using rubberized protectant similar to truck bed liner for the bottom of sideskirts because this is the first thing that dealers tend to destroy. I'm just mad I didn't get it done before I dropped it off for the flat tire. Doesn't matter either way since it will get covered by the rubber stuff anyway.

Whenever I get into the R8... it's instant joy. I'm just OCD when it comes to cars.
