$2K under invoice?
A local dealer has a 2012 R tronic 5.2 coupe thathas been sitting on their lot for close to a year. They're offering to sell the car at $11K off sticker which appears to be 2K under invoice. I've read about people getting $20k off new 2012s but they seem to be more highly optioned cars. Dealer has expressed that they want to move the car quickly. Any thoughts?
In Toronto the new cars are selling for 20k off list. I just got an email from a dealer offering 2.9% financing and 10k off for 2012 models. I'm not sure if that's on top of the 20k they already offered.
when i picked up my s6 a few weeks ago my dealer had a several '12 coupes and spyders on the lot, my guy offered me 25k off msrp on the v10 coupe and 35k off the spyder v10 without me even asking or showing interest in the cars. i got a minimal discount compared to the r8's on my s6 but imho i think you can do much better than 11k.
How much you talkin bout?
About the R8, I think people are realizing that there are many other cars in that price range that offer much more of everything. For me the only thing the R8 ever interested me in was its looks. But I could have a gt3RS or GT2 or f430 for that kind of money.
And that R tronic crap tranny, **** that crap.

OK here's the scoop on the r-tronic. I have a 2012 v10 spyder r-tronic & when i test drove the car in the auto mode it shifted very slow but when i put it in sport mode using the paddle's it was night & day difference. The shift's are swift & firm in this mode.
I only drive the car using the paddle's. I love the way it drives & shifts this way.
When I feel like a more spirited drive I drive the 6 speed GT2.

As far as the price drop, I had price offers on new 997 turbo's (20K off list) that were sitting on show room floors for months, as I did on the R8 when I bought it. Same story - the 991 turbo and the refreshed R8 are coming up.
Actually, many of us who own R8's realize pretty much the opposite view. As a road car, there are very few choices in that price range that have all the integrated attributes of the R8. There is nothing on the road in that price range that has given me more enjoyment than my V10 spyder, but then again we look for different things in a car. As far as the r-tronic, there are many R8 drivers who really enjoy the r-tronic because it is involving. I'm a manual transmission guy and really enjoy the R8's gated shifter.

Overall, I just love cars and have strong opinions on them.
