997.2 40k Miles Good Buy?
Hi All,
I have started my hunt for a 997.2 911. The price definitely varies based on mileage. This is going to be a daily driver and I was wondering what people thought about buying one with 40k miles? The 40k services have been done in some instances or need to be done ($1600) also, I would have to look at the 3rd party extended warranty already (roughly 3-5k depending on miles/years).
If I find a nice example should I just pull the trigger and trust in the reliability of Porsche (in my experience they have been great)? Just asking my fellow 6speeders.

A thorough PPI from a refutable dealer or trusted shop is your best bet before anything else regardless of mileage. You might get a great deal on a high mileage car with excellent service records or a nightmare on a good looking low mileage example with no records and was abused. Good luck with your hunt.

This should probably be posted in the "991" forum but I am not a Moderator so I will try and answer here. If the car has been maintained and does not need anything such as tires I would not hesitate but it all comes down to the price, and without that it is hard to say if it were worth buying. But if the price is right I would not hesitate if my budget allowed a set amount.

What would we all say is a good price? Say for an original MSRP of 115-120k.
I 100% agree on the PPI. I do have the Service Records for 2 of 4 cars I am looking at (including service completed in the last month).

PPI, as I recently learned, is invaluable. Service records on a low mileage car won't typically tell you how hard it has been driven. A PPI will in a matter of minutes.
Good luck with your hunt. I'm on mine and don't know what I'll do with my time when it is over...

For a guideline, I bought a 2010 manual, all records with 49K on the clock for 42K. They seem to hover between 42k on the low end to 46K on the higher end. The manuals seem a bit more rare since the PDK was introduced in 2009.

I've been watching the 997.2 prices for a while and just my 2 cents but they seem to be going UP in value. Most of the one's I have been interested in have been hoovering below the 60's.
I would think a Targa with 40K miles would be at least 55K.
Of course CPO would add to that. What is asking price?
