The car gods have been good to me lately and one such instance leads me to sell this beautiful Aston Martin V8 Vantage. This car has been a bucket list car for me for about 10 years. I’ve searched every day for about three years, watching prices come down and waiting for a Midnight Blue car with an interesting interior color appear. At the time I bought this one, I already had six other cars in the mix at my house, so my budget was limited to something under $35k. This one popped up one morning on Cars.com, 1500 miles from me but less than 20 from my older brother in Southern California. I had my brother check the car out a few hours later and a deal was done.
I had the car shipped to me in Kansas - enclosed shipment - this past January. With it being winter here, it’s only been out a handful of times - with me putting less than 100 miles on it since it arrived. Always in dry conditions and when done, washed and dried in my heated garage.
Which brings me to today - I'm listing this car to open a hole for a car that’s very special to me. About seven years ago, I sold my 18k mile Lapis Blue 996 Turbo here on this forum - didn’t want to but was chasing a business opportunity. It took two months to finalize the deal and was agonizing letting it go. I’ve watched the prices rise on those and was convinced I’d never own one again - much less in my preferred color package. I spoke to the buyer one time since the car left - about a month after he got it. Until two weeks ago today - out of the blue - the current owner reached out and said he was contemplating selling and wanted to offer to it to me first. I gleefully accepted and began the sell-off to make both physical room and financial room for the Porsche coming back.
Perfect world, I’d be able to keep them both. But keeping both is sadly not in the cards.
I have mostly owned BMWs and Porsches over the years, and this was my first AM, so I am not well-versed in the Aston Martin world like I am with the other brands.
I do know these cars tend to have issues with shrinking leather on the dash - and this is no exception. It has started to shrink in two spots, with pictures shown.
The car has had two previous owners to me - the first was in Southern California - sold it with roughly 21k miles. Second owner purchased it as a CPO car in 2010 and owned it, covered under an extended warranty through 60k miles, until I bought it. He lived in both Southern California and Washington state. The previous owner sold it to make room for an Aston Martin Rapide.
The car has been serviced mostly at Aston Martin Beverly Hills. I have receipts from several services including brakes at 55k miles, a 9-year service at 55k miles and 12-year service at 64k miles. The previous owner has stated that all of his service during his time in SoCal (since 2011) was done at this dealership, including a new clutch in the last two years. The receipts I have total over $17k, but they do not represent all the work this car has seen.
The only issues I’m aware of with the car are some discoloration of the driver’s side vent piece (pictured), some minor curb rash on a couple wheels, the leather shrinkage I noted above and the rear cargo cover is broken (but included).
The only thing I’ve done to the car since it arrived is to add a stubby antenna - replacing the one it had which had become frayed at the base. I did do a full detail on the car as well.
I’m pricing it to sell because that’s what needs to happen. The car is titled in Kansas, but the physical title has not been sent to me yet. This typically takes 30-45 days upon registration, which was completed last week.
Price is $32500 OBO.

Nice car and very well-written ad. A lot of people looking for these in the market right now. Price is more than fair, especially with all the service work done recently and new clutch. Shouldn't last long. Congrats on getting back into your old 996!
We did the garage addition last year and my office is now out here - so I spend my days surrounded by cars. It’s amazing.
Thank you!
Thank you! I’ve priced it to sell, hoping I’ll find a buyer who is in the same boat I was - looking for a specific color combo at a budget price. It’s going to hurt seeing this go - especially leaving behind that intoxicating exhaust sound - but the 996 coming back is that important to me.

Hi Dave - I can’t send PM’s as I’m a relatively new member here. Can you shoot me a good way to contact you?

Funny, I've been contemplating the same thing - except the new owner of my 996TT hasn't reached out to me yet
But when he does, the Aston will need to go, and the 996TT is coming home. Congrats on the sale.

That's awesome. Hopefully yours will come back as mine did. The new owner of the Aston is an awesome guy who has made the same statement to me on future sales - if he sells it, he'll reach out to me. Maybe one day I'll own them both at the same time.
