Looking for Black BMW Z8

Hey guys, my dad and I have been checkin out several different car options. We have now settled down on the idea of a BMW Z8, but the catch is, it has to be black. I've been checking different dealers and haven't found many so I was wondering if anybody knew about one. Preferably black/red but black/black is good too. Looking for something with around 8-12k miles and in the 90-115k price range.

Thanks for the help.

You've done your research on the car, right?

I've looked around and found quite a few silver ones, and some of my dad's friends have them here in Little Rock. They are great cars from what I can tell and it's even better that they can be serviced at our dealer in town. Is there something that I should be on the lookout for?

I've been talking to a guy at the BMW dealer in Chicago who's got 4 black Z8s but 2 have over 25k miles, I'm just looking around for my dad to see what's out there.

Wow! I had no idea, I have talked to almost 4 dealers about issues with the cars, but nothing like this has ever come up. I guess this is because BMW hasn't officially acknowledged the problem. Thanks for the heads up and I'll be sure to pass along information.

That Z8 is stunning, but the black rims won't go over too well with dad... nothing too flashy.
I'll call the dealer though and see if they have some stock rims to go with it. Great find!

Also, the Z8 shares the same powerplant as the E39 M5, which although a wonderful motor, has had some problems one must consider prior to ownership. There are carbon buildup issues and VANOS units that go bad, the carbon buildup being more substantial. Go over to M5board.com and do a search for both.

Disclaimer: I assume because they share the same powerplant they would share these motor problems. I don't hear much about Z8's, so I haven't hear any comments from owners regarding CB/VANOS, yet.

I think the reason we don't hear more is that this is such a relatively small production car and they aren't driven much. Problems usually seem to arise after some mileage. I would already own a Z8 if it wasn't for the two issues mentioned here and the frame. It is a classic beauty.
