anyone use a battery charger on their bentley?
Yes that's what I suspect though not completely sure. All the courtesy lights do time out even with the boot left open so I assumed it was "asleep". I just didn't think it was a good idea to close it fully on a the charging wire. I will keep an eye on the charge voltage with my multi-meter and see what happens with the boot left open...
Is there any hole in the trunk area where a wire could be threaded through an existing grommet to accommodate a charger? I don't like closing the trunk on the cable as it seems to keep the trunk slightly higher where the cable exits.
FWIW my trunk lid sits perfectly flat. I have an extension lead for the 12v side, so that my C-Tek sits in the garage with all the 240v lines. Only 12v is outside, and running into the trunk, so the cable is very slim.

Does anyone know if this charges the main or starter battery or both?
No information anywhere, even the Bentley manual that came with the charger.

If you read back in this thread to post #127 you'll see I already answered that, which is why a second charger is nugatory.
By very carefully studying the circuit diagrams contained in IETIS.
'05 ContiGT: House Loads battery on L side boot, behind access door. MTX-49 H8, 900 CCA. Starter battery on R side boot, behind access door. MTX-47 H5, 650 CCA. BOTH are Interstate Battery supplied to VW and are AGM. Mine lasted 17 years and just replaced (April 2021). House battery failed "20% charge time"; Starter battery replaced as well...marginal. My OEM is also "US 7200" CTEK charger, but NOTE "For lead-acid batteries 14 - 150Ah." BUT OEM batteries are/were Interstate Advanced Glass Mat (VW label). "Apparently" OEM CTEK charger comes with two (2) male plugs; 2-bladed or round (Cig-type) plugs. Mine is 2-bladed type, with female receiver brown plastic, wired (white) to House Loads battery. It does NOT look like a Crewe install (not "tidy") to me; likely Dealer. CTEK uses (I believe) a "program" of steady-state, or "pulse" charges, depending on battery discharge state. First (orange) lite is 20% charge. (If 20% is NOT reached within 4 hrs, "charging" lite will change from orange to red and (obviously) next (50%?) charge light will NOT illuminate (orange). "Houston, we have a problem." And "this" is what led me to replace 17-year-old OEM. Modern cars are "computer heavy" with many, many parasitic loads (e.g. clock, radio and 100+computers). OH, a 52 oz Florida Natural orange juice cap "snaps on" nicely to 2 blade connector.
'05 ContiGT: Believe CTEK battery charger brings up BOTH the House Loads and Starter batteries at same time. Similar(?) to "jump start" situation (see Owners Handbook) showing Neg jumper to House Loads battery; Pos jumper to Starter battery. Believe a 12V supply will feed both batteries. Similar(?) to "Emerg" ignition start, with key turned to L (House Loads) battery, if Starter battery is low.
