Anyone have a console sunglass case?

I don't like the ugly cupholder pocket in the center console. It makes the interior look unfinished.

So I'm debating whether to get the matching case that fits into it. Does anyone have one and can tell me whether the case lid sits reasonably flush, or high? I've seen a lot of photos but without seeing it in the flesh it's hard to tell.

And do you use it for sunglasses? I mean, is it really useful?

I have the sunglass case for my GTC and I had one for the GT. It is a thing of beauty. However, both times I took it out because I use the cup holders. I agree that the cup holders are one of the weakest parts of the car. Not only are they ugly, they do not function well in that the spring loaded arms can gouge cups made of styrofoam.

One thing you can do is to buy one to hide the cup holders, when they not in use, and store it in the cavity under the radio when needed.

OK, that's useful. Since one of the many things I don't do in any of my cars is drink, it sounds like a good idea all up.

I have the eyeglass case in my GTC and when I need to use the cup holders, there is a slot under the armrest that holds the eyeglass case vertically. When cup holders aren't in use, the case goes back as it is indeed a thing of beauty.
It's sticks up about an inch (just a guess as I'm not in town and can't go measure) but is a little shallow inside so not able to accommodate wrap-around sunglasses. My RayBan aviators fit well, though.

An inch is quite high. I imagined it being a little more streamlined than that. Still, not as if it's going to affect the slipstream. (Maybe in the GTC)

I just measured and it's more like 3/4" (1.9cm for you Ozzies) at the highest plane. It looks less than that because the edges are so rounded.

Thanks for doing that.

I'm not an Aussie, nor live there - does that make a difference?

Isn't there someone here from down under? Not that it matters, surely some of us are in countries that don't know inches like we Americans aren't familiar with centimeters.

I'm of that certain age where I was brought up on imperial, then our country (New Zealand) converted to metric in 1971.

After 40-odd years I still can't estimate a distance in meters, preferring to convert it in my head to feet then reconverting from my mouth in meters. Or metres as my countrymen are inclined to spell it.

A curse on the strong learning patterns of my youth!

Thanks. Not a match for my piano black, but useful to see.

Have one that was standard with the LeMans edition.

A thing of beauty....absolutely!!

Functional.....for covering the cup holders...absolutely!

For holding sunglasses.....maybe Dora the Explorer glasses for a 4 year old.

The depth of the case is too shallow for any of my wife's glasses. I can fit a pair of readers in it...a small pair, that is.

One thing about buying a case that did not come with the vehicle is the possibility that the veneer may not match as well as expected with the rest of the car's woodwork. From what I understand is that all the veneer in a particular is carefully selected from a single roll and designed to match throughout the car. On such a small piece it may not be noticeable to be of concern. If you are OCD and **** retentive it might be a bother.

I have the sunglass case for my GTC and use it to put change in. None of my sunglasses fit.
