Well, I had a quick blast the other day. Only got to 145mph before catching traffic to be honest so I must do better, especially as I've had my 4.2 Jag XJR up to 170mph.
Perks of a certain European country having no speed limit!

Les.

I'm in a 2010 GTC (esthetically stock, but technically OEM-built SS except for brakes )
I've driven 52000km (approx 35000mls) so far. Most of that -on Autobahn-at 160km (105mls). Some of it at 250+km ( 170mls).
She keeps on pulling from standstill, without flaws. Same comfort and drivability throughout the entire range (1st time the wife even didn't notice we were doing 170+mls).
Danger = the others. I once had a car pull out to the left lane in front of me at 80kms when I came up at 220+. Thought I was gonna hit him in the a.., missed him with about 30inches. SCARY!!
When you are not used to driving at 100+mls, speed can be intimidating and thus dangerous. My advice : get gradually used to speeding and become comfortable with it, then take it up an notch. Things tend not to come up but to 'being there' instantly. You have to focus further up ahead. The steering corrections you make have to be subtle. Laws of physics are working 'harder' when you go fast.

Haven't been over 130mph in a few months now. Just been ******* it around like an old man.

I agree the biggest danger is the closing rate of speed with the other cars. When they look both ways and pull out they are not even considering that the oncoming car could be doing over 120mph and so they will pull out assuming you are doing much less.

If going fast does not interest you then you will just never understand those who crave it.

I want to go fast but not at high speeds but rather under hard acceleration. That's why I'm considering ordering a 2015 CLS63 AMG. 577 HP, AWD, 0-60 in 3.2 secs (Road & Track). It's a real muscle car of the first order.

Plus, their matte paint costs $3950. Bentley's costs $35,600, almost 10X as much. Huh?

The factory claims a 0-100KPH time of 3.6 (which is 3.5 to 60 MPH) but Car and Driver got 3.2:

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...specs-page-5-2

"AMG’s stone-cold launch control will manage gearchanges for you. With a wet-clutch pack in place of the torque converter, the Merc cuts the anchor chain at 3750 rpm to hit 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and clears the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds. It is the quickest car here thanks to its combination of four-wheel drive and launch control, not to mention the most potent engine. The 27-hp bump over the old performance package and the switch to four-wheel propulsion hack 0.6 second off the 60-mph sprint."

I hear ya and acceleration is the best part of the ride BUT, 0-60 and then back out is like penetration with out finish. Got to stay in it for a wee bit after sixty.

Honestly i am not always going around trying to go to jail and I just love the look, feel and presence of the Bentley so for now I'm quite satisfied. If I see you guys on the street I'll just bow in submission and ease off the line.

I agree. I've been driving GTCs since 2008 (on my third GTC, a 2013 V8) and still love the car. But, I've always had another car as a DD so that I wouldn't rely on the GTC as my DD. Space is now an issue for me so I really need to have just one, all-purpose car. Hence, the interest in the CLS63.

If you like go for it we are all allowed to drive anything we like and change our minds any time also. I could only get one car and for me it was the GTC. I did see an SLS that was awful sharp. I like the Aston DBS very well also but can't have that many.$$$
