TPM Main Brain

I have just purchased an '05 GT that had damaged Asanti rims on it. I figured the issue with the TPM light being on was due to the rims. I purchased new rims as well as new TPMS for all 4 wheels directly from Bentley. They explained the system is self learning but after over 30+ miles of driving I still have a fault. I believe the issue to be the TPM brain. Does anyone have a part number or even any hints as to what to try next?

Thanks in advance.

-Jeff

Are you sure that you purchased the right units? Different years used different sensors.

I believe that was a problem with many of the earlier cars. Many people have turned the units off by either pulling the fuse or using the Vag-Com unit. Do a search and you will several threads addressing the issue.

I never use tpms,
I disable or tpms or do a tpms canister in trunk

It's such a nightmare with programming , batteries, failing etc

There is a TPMS receiver, I believe that a new one would require coding. I would confirm that you have the right sensors first. Either have the dealer, or an independent, do a scan. Now may be a good time to pick up a Vag-Com cable.

with the 05my when you replace the tpms sensors you have to replace the control module as well,it should not need coding ,the module is located behind the left rear panel. just remove rear seat and remove panel.

Great info thx! Out of curiosity is this the same for the 07MY or a matter of coding sensors? TIA

no 07MY has a different set up than the earlier 05MY,If you are experiencing an issue with your TPMS then it is probably due to the sensor battery life being below the recommended 30 months.

Good to know and with regards to adding a new TPMS sensor would be coded or added through VAG programming?

The TPMS sensors are brand new in the wheels directly from Bentley and verified correct via my VIN number.

I talked to the service manager and he said if it has not auto-learned after 15 miles of driving it is most likely the brain (about $600).

I want to get this working like from the factory as I have low-profile tires on the car and want to know tire pressure is ok.

I will be bringing the car in to the dealer next week to get things fixed and will reply here letting everyone know what happens.

Thanks to all those that replied.

Ok just got back from the Bentley dealer. They tell me the main unit is bad.

3W7907273 CONTROL UNIT TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING 315/433MHZ

Cost is $500 parts, $350 labor.

Lest see if I can find it anyplace else cheaper now.
