Most older cars have faulty TPMS. Is it because of the dying battery? How long will a set of TPMS last?

I'm thinking about fixing the TPMS on my 04 but it wouldn't make sense if it will break again very quickly.

the 04 and 05 MY tpm was ok,the problem we found that people would check their tyres when they are warm giving a false reading to the brain. if you replace all 4 sensors and the brain you will be ok as long as you set your tyres when cold. the system takes about 15 mins to learn and should be done in one cycle,if it was my car i would definitely get it fixed. The batteries start with a 72 or 90 month life and only when they are below 30 months will you experience issues.

Thanks BentleyTech. Usually, do I need to replace the brain or just TPMS sensors if I get a TPMS warning light?

I check my tire pressures EVERY time I leave my garage: 340kPa F(cold) and 280kPa R(cold) with digital gauge.
TPMS is NOT HELPFUL. Pleas advise how I can disable it..FOREVER!!!

2005 Bentley Continental GT....THANKS !!!

05 Owners Manual (pg 12-2) gives 3 COLD pressure settings: Speeds up to 124 mph/speeds up to 168/speeds over 168mph. I have calculated my own as 265F/225R kPs (38.4 and 32.6 psi). After changing 4 tires with new TPMs, are owners "free" to set their OWN "New Specified Pressure?" How is this accomplished?

How do you check your psi when driving down the road at speed? That would be interesting. You realize that most flats are caused some picking something up on the road and when you are going into a turn at a healthy speed it is nice to have full psi in that tire. TPMS is very helpful.

38.4 and 32.6? Door sill on my 2005 says 49 and 41. Seemed high to me but I set it there anyway last week and it initially felt harsh, but felt super good on the highway.

My TPMS just started acting up a little. The one on my 2005 Phaeton hasn't worked in 12 years (at least). Don't miss it.
