Rough Idle Back In 07 GTC :(
Rough Idle Back In 07 GTC :(
First, love the GTC and she is incredible in the snow! Top down driving during a warm summer day isn't to shabby either
As the second B here am really looking forward to another great year of true grand touring.
After having the oil tube top bit fixed and the plastic 'T' replaced in the engine bay she was working fine for a month or so. The smoke test at the dealership during the fix did show the typical defect of cracked hose behind the engine yet we were hoping it wasn't too bad considering this is a known manufacturer defect and requires the engine to come out to fix. We have seen this hose situation here and on another board so hopefully the factory can help out a bit as she is going back to service early next month. This way she will be and all fixed for another great year of driving pleasure

LOL Dr.D
Alas, you'd feel the slightly rough idle and of course the dreaded yellow 'check engine' indicator stays on the dash. She works fine all and all and have no doubt we could have fun driving her without worry. Just that I like her to be working properly and she is due for the annual factory service so "While you're doing the annual service, we may as well....".

We shall see. Maybe like the coil on's and third brake light on the 05/06 GTs they got a bad batch of the part? Considering how many parts and computers are in these cars things do happen, designs naturally evolve/improve, etc. Crossing my fingers and hope you never need the engine out service.
ADDED: Factory rep just called and was a really nice gentleman and very sympathetic to the situation. Alas, seems the costs will be 100% mine for the engine out as she is 7 years old yet was hoping... Looks like this is going to be a very expensive visit to Bentley service

Yesterday the friendly Bentley factory service guys came and picked up the '07 GTC. Hopefully it is just the standard known problematic hose behind the engine and then she's getting a normal annual service for fun driving this year
Last week she went in for service and the slow acceleration that bewildered me upon first getting the GTC was probably because of false air getting into the engine due to a cracked air hose at the rear of the engine. They found it during a smoke test. For servicing, the engine needed to be removed. FYI: The engine's electronic sensor(s) allow for some false air leaking without 'throwing a warning light'. Some other bits such as upper front suspension bushings needed replacing. After this servicing (plus normal annual service) she FINALLY feels like, to perhaps better than, the previous 2006 GT in engine power.

Alas, seems like a sooner or later thing. Perhaps not all cars have it happen, (EDITED) and according to the below Bentlytech post there is a design change.

Not sure. Wish I knew more though am sure the factory is aware of the situation. Have your dealer check for leaks via their computer as it does appear it gives a reading (percentage or some such) I think. Of course a smoke test, which takes time, will also show any problems.

Thanks for the info. I am just asking in anticipation of if I ever need to replace, what my options are. I've been a member on the porsche Rennlist site for 16 years and quite often, someone will post a source for an improved part and of course a group buy goes into full effect. Very active 993 rennlisters. Good to know the replacement hose is better.
Huge thanks bentleytech for the info and the hose (vacuum line) part number they replaced is 3W1612041S. They also replaced the MAF SNSR harness 3W0998088. The factory dealer service has been excellent, great gentlemen and very thorough.
