Replacing Gear Shifter Trim

Replacing Gear Shifter Trim
My shifter trim was damaged and rather then replace it with an entire new shifter module from Bentley. I did some research was able to find out that the Audi A8 uses the same shifter mechanism. Rather than trying to buy a used one off of Ebay as some others have suggested, I was able to find the Audi PN for just the trim piece.
There are other threads that cover the process, but thought I would share how I did it.
The trim was only $90 online: 4E1713187A
The Audi A8 shifter trim
Pull off the top trim, be careful to not damage the clock cable. Disconnect it to remove the trim piece
Pop off the bottom trim, again be careful to not damage any of the connectors/wires. I didn't remove any of them, but just used some microfiber cloths to set the trim aside. You can see the broken trim. Remove the shifter **** also, see YouTube for a good video on how to do that.
Disassemble the layers of trim, hard to describe how to do it. But there are no screws, just snaps together.
Carefully take this apart to slide out the old trim pieces and inser the new one. Make sure its in the same way as the old one.
Top is the old one, bottom is the new one. They are identical
Put it back together. Be careful to not damage the PCB.
Assemble.
Snap the trim back on, make sure its going back together correctly. Clean all the pieces before putting it together.
You can see now that the trim is covering the opening
Done!
