Celtic Tuning thoughts?

Just wondering if anyone has had a Celtic Tuning map for their car?
They have come as a recommendation from a friend of mine who has had his BMW mapped & only has good things to say.
For my 2010 Supersports they're offering a 132hp/145lb-ft gain, which does interest me somewhat!

Hi Pete,

Not meaning to speak for everyone, but I couldn't find any tune discussion on this forum. I tried a few times to get discussions going and unfortunately, just crickets. Actually should say that Sam speaks the language some.

Knowing what I know about any factory EMS, they all tune down and never to the max potential, so it would not surprise me if 132hp isn't parked on a Supersports. I know another safe 62 hp is there for the base series one W12.

Don't know this tuner, but reputation is everything. Make sure they don't have a trail of blown motors. Good tuners know how to still leave a cushion especially if you're street driven.

The factory has a real motivation to detune, they have to warranty the drivetrain. The tuner...not so much....

Hi BWings,
Wow, you are a very active member, good to "speak" again.
Why, wouldn't you want to tune a Bentley?? Its a fantastic motor with potential. I don't want to speak out of turn but maybe in some people's eyes Bentley's aren't for modifying & that's fine as everyone to their own. But no enthusiasm on this topic, I am surprised.
For me though, I've come from a long line of M cars & always wanted to modify, but was held back by dealer warranty, not now though!
I'm know Celtic Tuning have good rep. but only from one source, it would have been really useful if a like minded member had already taken the plunge with Celtic or someone else.
It will probably be a month or so away as I'm going to have the fuel system internally pressure cleaned & get it booked in for its next routine service before doing anything. Once those are complete it will be time to decide...........
Hopefully in between maybe get some feedback from other forum members on their experiences with tuning. Let's hope so!

Actually you might have misunderstood. I love to tune, just want to access the ECUs and do the tune myself. I don't object to tuning a Bentley at all, just cautioning you to make sure it is done safely if you drive the car on the street. If I can get access software to the EMS tables you wouldn't be able to hold me back.

Here in the states we have a number of tune businesses that all do ECU exchanges and they tune them "behind the curtain" I just want to get behind the curtain on the VAG ECUs. I am already there on some platforms on US cars - GM, Ford, Chrysler. None of these euro tuners will give up access to the SW.

In Phoenix we have a Euro tuner who does ECU exchanges and does Bentleys. vividracing.com

Another one in Scottsdale - Good Speed claims to do Bentley ECU exchanges. goodspeedperformance.com

If you want to look at some comparos.

Hi,
Sorry, no I think I have mislead you with my reply. I wasn't aiming my opinions on tuning at you at all, rather the opposite really, I was expressing my surprise at the lack of interest from the community on tuning, you obviously have interest as your comments in the thread show.
I certainly don't have the confidence to tune myself although a good friend does map his own car whilst "live" on the road, laptop in one hand steering wheel in the other! . Should have said to my friend has a kit car that he plays with, just for fun, lucky guy!
Yes, I will definitely check out your tuners, I want good overall knowledge before deciding on which road to take. The last thing I want to encounter is a bundle of trouble & regret but the thought of a 700+bhp Bentley very much appeals to me!
There are a few other UK companies I'm going to contact to see what they offer too. As I say I was only asking about Celtic as my friend (as mentioned above) was the guy who put me onto them.

So following up on this thread. I've been carrying out quite a lot of research into UK tuners & their various bhp claims/costs/after sales service (if any) & have come to a decision.

I appreciate that there are other tuners out there that I do not mention, however below were my options;

Celtic Tuning - bhp 753 & 996Nm
Emaps - Didn't respond.........
Suoerchips - bhp +45 & +94Nm
Quantum - bhp 680 & 900Nm
Elite remaps bhp 680 & 900Nm
DMS Automotive bhp 720 & 935Nm
Avon tuning bhp 680 & 900Nm

& the winner is.........................DMS Automotive, reasons;
Quick response to the initial enquiry
Quick response to any further queries (which there was a lot of)
Fine tuning of the package on dyno
Inclusive software update on the gearbox
3 year after sales service, with unlimited call outs, free of charge. (I live some 300 miles away from their main location )
Professionalism & knowledge of product
Customer reviews
Previously tuned cars of high end specification

Price, they are most expensive (£1900+VAT) I came a cross by some way. However Tony, eventually offered the work for £1200+VAT, which I've accepted.
The car is booked in on Saturday 12th October, the week after being serviced at Bentley.
Tony has said that I'll probably end up with between 700 - 720 bhp dependant on starting bhp, fuel (although I only use V Power) & the individual fine tuning of the map on the day.
Yesterday I had the car Terraclean to remove any internal carbon deposits & have the injectors cleaned, to ensure the engine is as good as it can be.
So that's about it for now, roll on the 12th!

Wow Mr Pete you are going all out, do let us all know how you get on, Im sure Mr BWings will be very interested in this thread .
My car was done by ONYX I had it on the rolling road at the chap who looks after some of my other cars, he tunes race cars for the track, he got just under 700bhp that was 2 years ago, let me see if I can find the print out I'll post it on here for you, not that I use anything like that power but it sure makes a loud roar Lol, wouldn't want to know what the desbles measure up to ...

You're obviously a luckier man than me with your comment "some of my other cars", I only have the one, but what fun she is!

Well the 12.10.2019 has been & gone & below are the results of the map...........It was better than I dared to hope with an expected 710 - 720bhp, before the day started

I tried to upload a short video of one of the runs, but I think the size of it is too big to put on here.

Anyway with a starting figure of 594bhp which after 9 years & 40,000 miles I think is really good, considering when new it had an expected 621bhp which I think most people know this is Bentley's top line figure. To only lose 27hp in that length of time, tells me this engine is in pretty good condition.
I am so happy with the performance, with as near as dam it 750bhp & just over 1000Nm of torque, you can feel every bit of power from very low down in the rev range. With the 4 wheel drive it simply launches you forward, the pushing you back into your seat just doesn't stop.............well not until silly speeds anyway!
If anyone out there is thinking of having a map, I can only say DO IT you wont regret it, BUT & its a big but, make sure that you use a reputable company. I used DMS Automotive & although expensive I feel happy that I put my faith in them.
