Im wanting to remove the badge from the steering wheel. Would anyone happen to know if its glued on or indeed screwed from behind the airbag cover. Common sense tells me its not screwed as it is, in fact an airbag. Has anyone ever removed one ?
Reason for removal is, Im having the airbag cover coated in Linen to match the seats and doors, so the badge will need re fitting after the colour change. I know I could mask the badge before the job, however id rather remove and avoid overspray.
Tricky one .....if it’s glued on and parked in the sun , the heat may degrade the adhesive , it may end up a projectile if the bag is triggered .
So I was heading up that bit of engineering and wary of the litigation mad consumer world the car’s gonna be marketed in I would be dam sure the badge does not end up inside someone’s skull .
Hard to tell ? As said glue alone is lawsuit in waiting ? This ones been ripped off .
Ask a dealer parts dept .
Forensically looking at the pic to get that level of reverse indentation marks under the wings particularly on the RHS it would seem to me it’s been screwed down hard so the inside of the logo marked the leather .
No evidence of residual adhesive on the leather either ,

Thanks John, yeh Ive been deliberating for months and finally took the plunge. Really happy with the outcome considering it cost so little and done in less than 30 minutes.
Very nice !
May I ask what you coated the leather with, process ?
Johnny
Leather paint. Applied with a "Mouth Sprayer" and sealed with a polyethylene coat. The hardest part was the prep, masking up the badge mainly, then everywhere else that was not to be painted. Three coats of colour and one final sealer.
Photos attached.....
Tape up the badge and all adjacent areas Initial clean/prep coat applying paint using Mouth Spray Gun.
