Windshield fix options?

Hey all, I've been enjoying my bentley for about a year now. I got the CPO warranty (which I generally don't recommend) and it's covered roughly the same cost in fixes that I'd be out of pocket for if they hit me directly, but one thing they don't cover is windshields.

I caught 3 rocks on a highway trip I take fairly frequently; 2 in the windshield and 1 in the grill. Grill was fixed by a 3rd party guy for about $1.5k, but he didn't have a "glass guy" that could fix the other two. I've called around and get the same story - have to go to dealer.

So I did. And the dealer wants $5,500.

that's completely insane. What other options do I have?

It’s used glass out there as I need a back one and the dealer was around the same price. I searched the internet and found a few, still high but cheaper then 5 grand. I know that one place Alpine something in Florida has them from time to time. Don’t rule out overseas too. I know some places won’t even touch it if it’s not new. I’m still looking but not as much as other things has become a priority. But have a look where these cars are a dime a dozen, Florida, New York, California and Texas.

Most US auto insurance comprehensive coverage covers cracked windshield replacement without a deductible. I just had one replaced on my '14 Highlander at zero cost and the very same policy covers my '09 GT, a '13 Benz and a '98 Jag without any exclusions. In fact, when I called the insurance company one of the phone tree options was "press 3 for windshield claims" which connected me right to Safelight. They verified coverage and scheduled me into one of their shops in about 5 minutes. Call your insurance company.

Thanks. I have a pretty high deductible so looks like I'll be paying cash... or living with it until I lower my deductible

Try calling anyway, you've got nothing to lose. I have a high deductible too but windshields have a $0 deductible which I didn't know till I had to replace one a couple of months ago. In FL (where I am), SC and MA it's the law but do check your coverage as some insurance companies do it anyway.

Gave them a call. It's covered but I have to pay deductible, so $2k vs $5.5k. Still a good deal I suppose.

That's a LOT better but still pricey. The price for the glass itself from Scuderia is between $2500 and $3000 depending on whether it's before 2012 or not. 2K on top of that seems high for labor. You might get a better price from a VW/Audi dealer on installation if a local glass shop won't touch it. You might call AutoGlass Service Aurora if that's not too far away as they claim to do Bentley glass. Got to be less than the dealer.

I will never understand why most places will not touch these cars. It’s glass. Is it some type of special process with installing it? A adhesive only certain shops are willing to buy? What? I had a large shop mostly everyone go to in my area and as soon as I said the what type of car he basically ran his sentence with mines saying nope we don’t do those. I wasn’t even finished saying the y in Bentley!!

Do you have a more specific name? I googled AutoGlass Service Aurora and got a handful of companies with names similar to but not the same as what you had. Want to talk to the right one

This is the place that says it will do Bentley windshields. Let us all know what you find out! They're a national company so it's relevant to all of us.

Tip of the day...NEVER pay cash for a windshield on a Bentley. They are expensive and time consuming and have to be done correctly and then it has to be re-calibrated! Go to a reputable glass company. I am in the Glass Business...where are you located, maybe i can recommend someone reputable. ALSO...NEVER use cheap CHINESE glass! LOTS of problems from distortions to nor re-calibrating correctly!
