Anyone got any tips on using axle stands on a Conti?
I think I am right in saying that the oval bung is supposed to be removed to accept a plastic adaptor for use with trolley jacks? Is there something similar that would be safe with an axle stand?

I use rubber pads that sit on the jack or a of wood to spread the load. I've never had an issue of damage on the jack point
Sorry to rain on your parade, but Bentley explicitly advise against such things. Here are the relevant pages and diagrams showing the correct lifting points:
Yes, basically on the grounds that there is no room to do it?
The only jacking point being the area in my photo with all the bungs in.
I can't read what Rich9911 posted. What have most places have you guys used to support the GT?
I see Johnny uses the control arm attachment points. However, that's not going to work if you want to replace control arms.

Hello @Linescreamer & @rich9911 ,
Linescreamer, I do not place the jackstands on the control arm attachment points at all, so control arms are accessible and removable.
Also, I do not understand why you cannot read what Rich9911 wrote, are either of you blocked from each other ??
Rich9911,
Here are some pictures showing where I place the jack stands, I can get better pictures tomorrow showing the front in better detail, I used 6 stands altogether for my safety, especially while I was putting the engine/transmission package in.

.
That's bound to be fine as there's nothing on them!

@rich9911 ,
I don't understand your comment, as I said, I used the jack stands while installing the complete engine/transmission package, along with the complete front suspension, so everything is on them weight wise...

Was only joking! Those pictures with 90% of the front missing....
Maybe this is a good excuse to buy that 2 post vehicle lift I've always wanted! They cost about the same a Bentley service these days...
This looks like another approach but it looks a bit flimsy to me?
That's how I explained why I needed a two post lift in my shed and you are right, same price as a Bentley Service over here , I'd better not show those jack-stands to my wife, might take a bit of explaining

Nice shed! I wish I had that space...
Is that a unimog?
