One of my key blades broke off, so I obtained a blank and need it cut.
Will the dealer be able to do this, or do I need to find a locksmith?
Key fob works fine, electronically, and I punched out the pin that holds the blade and replaced it with a blank. I have another good key + the broken blade, both with the full pattern to copy.
edit, I have the 06 model, in case that makes a difference, but, looks to be a standard "laser cut" key blade, with the center routed out.

1. The local dealer cannot do this and mentioned the cutting takes place in the UK. (Dealer is the one Parsippany)
2. Local locksmiths - of the 7 places called 2 are able to do it and one said they can, but won't - no explanation.
(both who could asked 'What kind of car' - and the one I told 'Bentley Continental GT' wanted $150 each and the one I told 'VAG product 2006', told me $35. Guess I'll have to take the battery covers off when I get it done, lol.)

One more update... If you want to 'upgrade' your second bentley key fob to the version with the panic button (red dot), I found you could simply buy the 4 button case. For my 06 US GT, the circuit board had the little button soldered on, and the 4 button replacement case that's $40 on ebay has the necessary lever, button and gasket needed for this to work.
At 12 o'clock is the oem key battery cover with the worn out rubber peeled off and at now at the 3 o'clock position.
At 6 o'clock is an old key, with the rubber replaced with a piece of Bentley leather from an oem steering wheel I'm getting recovered to match. Sprayed the back of the leather with formula 77, laid on the plastic, then cut with scissors and used an exacto knife to make the badge tab slots. 5 minute job. Could probably trim a bit more carefully next time for a perfect fit. Wish I had some saddle leather to match the keys to the interior. I do have the dye, but don't think it will cover black.
At 9 o'clock is the replacement ebay key. The ebay key has a matte textured plastic that looks like rubber, but appears to be more durable, harder and not soft. One other note is that the Bentley flying wings badge on the ebay key is different. (10 feathers on OEM on right side vs. 9 on the 'copy')
The badge comes off by opening the metal tabs on the back of the battery cover. You can also see the freshly cut key blank just above it on the ebay key. $35 to cut and works a charm.

I have an 06 GT, in Texas. Only had one key. Dealer required making 2 keys at $1500. Found a lock smith that came to house and brought key and fob and cut it for $500. I would try a lock smith first. they had to order the fob and blank as they did not keep that in stock, so took about a week for it to come in.
When I got my car I only had one key. I tried cloning and programming with low end VVI tools without much success. Keys are a two part process. The first is programming the chip in the fob itself and the second is adding it to the key list and immobilizer in the car itself. I called around and found a mobile locksmith in the Atlanta area who did it for $600 in my driveway.
It does take a high end programming tool and the proper knowledge. All in all it took about an hour at my house. For the money I got a new OEM Bentley key laser cut and programmed to the car.
When the locksmith comes out make sure you specify what order you want the keys in. I wanted the new key to be #1 and the old key to be #2. This is somewhat important as the personalization can be set to follow the key in regard to the seat settings, etc. I wanted my new key to be #1 so that it would follow me in the system. A bit AR-OCPD but I am #1 in my car and #2 in my wife's Caddy and v. versa.
My new to me 2016 GT came with one master and one valet and I asked the dealer to try and find the second master. To my surprise and delight he got it and sent it to me a couple of weeks ago but it looks like a dog chewed it. It works fine so I ordered the shell through Amazon from the same Chinese seller and expect it in a few days. I'm hoping to be able to use the same key rather then get it recut. I'll count the feathers!
Update: The 4 button key fob shell from China [amzn.to/3Xr0DEO] arrived on Monday and today I took the circuit board and key from the old one and put them in the new case. Perfect match - even the number of feathers in the logo is correct! Two small issues: 1) after I put it back together the panic button was permanently pressed. I could have adjusted the metal bar that presses the button on the circuit board but it was more effort than it was worth since I've never had to use it and it's a second key. I just removed the bar and put it back together without it; 2) there are two little tabs that hold the board in position and one of them was a little too thick. I could've widened the notch on the board but instead used a blade and just scraped a little plastic off the tab. Happy with the purchase.
