Which manual did you buy, and did you try setting the date of the computer back to the date required for the certain software you purchased ?

I recommend you get the IETIS from Flying Spares. It has the manual and a part listing of all parts. It's the best information I have found for looking up parts and how to work on the car since it has the official dealer repair guide in it. It's very detailed. Here is a link to the DVD or USB stick. Many times the mechanical parts for the Bentley can be matched up to a VW Phaeton, but not the actual body parts which are Bentley. They can also cross to some of the Audi and others. As you read through this forum, you will get a wealth of information.. Lots of the engine and suspension can also be crossed to the Phaeton. Here is a link to the guide..

The DVD contains the Service Manual. What is is the Continuation Service Manual?
I'm interested in getting a hard copy of the Service Manual.

I am not an expert on this part, but I believe that the later cars are not covered since Bentley went to a different system which is why when you use the disc, you have to put a date in prior to January 2012 for it to work. I would imagine, but this may not be accurate, that many things on the disc may be the same for later year cars, but that just some different components/numbers changing. I believe the platform has been rather stable/consistent and that many of the procedures would be the same for repairs.
In case you have not seen this yet, you may also want to get the Ross Tech VCDS. The Ross Tech VCDS to analyze and erase trouble codes. VCDS is not the same as the obd 2 port testers sold at car parts stores. Search for it in the forum, but since early Bentley Continentals have the same system as the VW Phaeton, you can use this for looking for faults and diagnosing your car if you state it is the Pheaton. I am not sure at what point the VCDS does not work with newer cars or if it still does. Here is a link to it.
