Belt screech

First start in a couple of weeks, after a lot of cold nights, snow and ice. Horrible belt squeal. It starts a few seconds after the engine starts. Is this just a tired belt slipping or has something seized?

After a few minutes, it stopped.

Not cold today at all, but it has been sub zero at night for a couple of weeks.

It didn't change when I turned the steering wheel.

Not sure which aux puts most load on the belt, AC, hydraulics, or alternator. (what else is driven off the belt?)

Mines just done that this morning. Realy bad screech. SAI pumps also sounded very loud. Lasted about 5 minutes. No CEL.
Checked for codes triped on the vas cable and pulled the connector off the vas circuit board.....now im really peed off.

Hello All,
@rich9911 & @Frank ( Sunnyside ) ,
Question for both of you, as Rich9911 stated that his vehicle hadn't been started in a couple of weeks, plus the colds nights, was the vehicle on a battery tender during this time?
If battery, or batteries are low, that may be the alternator causing the squealing of the belt you hear, low batteries, cold belt tends to slip like cold summer tires..

Or it could be one of the two idlers, or the belt tensioner itself.

Here are some pictures showing all of the items that the serpentine belt rides on.
The Crank pulley
The A/C compressor
The Power steering pump
The Alternator
The Water pump
Two Idlers
One Tensioner.

Johnny

Thanks Johnny,
Yes, its been freezing here about -5 to -7 deg C here for a few days. I washed the car and thoroughly flushed all the rads and IC to ensure all salt removed. Perhaps the belts were wet when I garaged the car??
I did have it on a battery conditioner, all the time tbh. Battery was new October for my France road trip . I thought the SAI pumps were very noisy too. Started car this morning and all back to norm.
Had the usb cable hard soldered onto the vas interface. Going to try it on ODIS Saturday. Going to be a right pi$$er if its trashed☹😤
