SIM card in arm rest not working

Hi fellow Bentley owners, this is my first post so please forgive any mistakes

I have a 2008 Flying Spur. I have a SIM card that works in my cell phone and when I put it in the holder in the armrest I can see the contacts on the screen. But I cannot make or receive calls. When I call the number from another phone it goes straight to voice mail as though its not turned on.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Many thanks

Not knowing what country you're in or the carrier you use makes for a lot of variables but, at least in the US, it may be that the IMEI of the car's phone is not recognized by the carrier or it could be that the carrier no longer supports 2G/3G service and the '08 wouldn't be 4G/5G capable. However, unless your cellphone is more than 8 years old, I suspect that the SIM you're using is for a 4G/5G phone and the car is not compatible with it. Cell service and phones have changed a lot in 15 years!

Thank you for your reply. I am in Australia and my SIM is 3G/4G. I think you're right about incompatibility. The car is due for service soon so I will run it by the dealer.

Regards, John

As an alternative, I believe that your car has Bluetooth as my '09 did, so you can just connect your phone to the car that way. Pairing the phone is straightforward and you can make and receive calls handsfree.

When I ran into a similar issue with my car's connectivity, I found that sometimes it's a matter of double-checking the settings. Have you tried ensuring that the SIM card is properly inserted and activated for calls? If that doesn't do the trick, reaching out to the manufacturer's support might shed some light.

IIRC, there's a menu setting that allows you to choose between the SIM slot in the car and a paired Bluetooth phone. I haven't been bothered to install a separate SIM but came across something like that when playing with the infotainment settings last year. Someone who knows better might want to chime in at this point.
