As you can see from my scan, it says the front left has a fault. So I’m not one to just replace one part if they are others similar to it. In my head if one is going bad then the others are not far behind. I changed two already (front left and right rear). I’m just waiting on the other two to arrive which should have been yesterday.

When I first came to the board, I had a android. I can kinda recall I had the same issue. It had something to do with the setting in my browser. I think I switched to Google Chrome and that fixed my issue. I’m not 💯 % certain but that’s what I think it was. I even had a issue with Safari when I switched to Apple but again, I went to Chrome like the next day.

@TeamJones1962 ,
Your speedometer should now work, as I believe that the front left does the speedometer.

Update

Well looks like Im back at square one. Changed all four and the scanner still says the front left and rear left has a fault.

What symptoms would I have if the rear brakes need changing? Both batteries read 12+ volts.

Im thinking my next step may be to change the electric parking brake motor.

connectors/pins issue?
or wiring issue?

i dont think the epb would have impact on this, why you suspect epb?

symptoms for rear brakes need changing? you mean brake pads?
symtoms are: no brakes but jokes aside...

when the thickness is below 3mm (or 4 - i dont remember), then you got the warning on the dash.
this measure is done thru check how far goes the brake cylinder.
at least it is done like that in gt first editions (2004,5 +), maybe smth is different in newer versions (i know about 2005)
this is setup thru adaptation, when you got new break pads, you reset in vcds to the actual thickness value (in mm) of your new break pads.

Update

Soooooooooooooo…..

I put it in the Ross Tech and it wasn’t communicating. So with the help from @Johnny Hotspur GT and Jason the Bentley guru I ended up going to the ABS module and got a surprise.

Don’t know what all that could be but I cleaned it up and reconnected it just to see if luck would be in my favor…….

NOPE………..

So now a new plug and module is on the to do list.

ahh - what a mess - this fried after ugnition on or when you attempted to connect via vcds?

wondering if the abs pump electronics board is accessible - i mean after cleaning the plug (it was water or oil or other chemical / fluid?) if there was a way to access board clean it with IPA etc before connecting power.

the plug fried i suspect there were still shorts in plug or socket after the clean and board itself may look clean still but of course does not have to.

Hello @TeamJones1962 ,
Just thinking out loud here.

I was thinking about how and what that liquid was, how did it get in there, and what exactly is it, as we discussed on the phone, you never power washed it, and you haven't had any driving in extra heavy downpours, also as pictured and discussed, the orange seal (gasket) looks intact, no splitting, that got me thinking, how is your brake fluid level, have you had to add any brake fluid at any time, when was the last brake fluid flush, as the fluid puddled in the module pin area certainly looks like the old brake fluid I flushed from my GT after it sat for many years during my rebuild, so, I wonder if somehow a seal (if there is one) in the ABS aluminum block let loose and is leaking brake fluid internally into the module, therefore coming up and through the pins, as the pins and their connection plug are at the lowest position on the module itself.

Tagging Jason.

When I changed the ABS sensors I checked the brake fluid levels and it was good. Just a hair below the max line.
I haven’t had it flushed as I don’t even drive it like I should. But once all this gets squared away that’s on the list to have done.

@TeamJones1962 ,
Ok, but the only reason I say this, is so that you don't install a replacement ABS module onto your ABS pump, that may have a leak, once you remove the 6 screws and pull the module off, you should get a better idea of what that liquid was, and if it is on the inside of the module itself, I would do first to confirm.

I finally received a response from Butler, the $100 unit, it is from a flood car, they warranty it for 90, not sure the risk is worth the savings, but I honestly would probably take the chance myself.

Not yet. This thing is the least of my priorities right now. Was T-boned by a 15 yr old in my Escalade. She had no insurance. In therapy for back pains now. Shop had the truck for 13 days before they even looked at it so thats 13 days of eating into my rental coverage. Ohh I needed a rental because my other Escalade needs a power steering pump and a rack and pinion. Lol my life!!
