Screen Only Has Logo
Aloha @robob , did you ever find a solution? I've been having this issue on my 2015 FLying spur as well. It's maddening. I thought it was a low power situation, but not so much...
I finally got my license plates so I am going to take it to the dealer hopefully in a few days.
The backup camera is nice to have, but many of us backed up for decades without a camera:-)
So you have had NO screen for months? or its just intermittent?
I of course rarely drive the car, but for months the infotainment system has only displayed the logo and done the reboot thing.
Robert
Well that's a kick in the nuts isn't it.
I was reading through this thread and totally impressed with the level of support and commitment Johnny supplied. He definitely goes above and beyond!

Has anybody replaced the factory sat/nav system? I've seen this larger teslas style android units, but I honestly like the tacticle buttons.
Can these be replaced with another satnav unit? or must they be mached to the VIN?
PS - Pressing the VOICE/EJECT + CAR button does indeed force an action. On mine it clearly states thatit cant start up - then asks for a CD to be inserted.

Not knowing the specifics of said unit but being quite familiar with electronics, could this be a prompt to insert a disc containing firmware for an emergency reflash? I've revived and unbricked lots of electronics using JTAG and forced firmware upgrades and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a similar case.
I have a 2018 Bentley Flying Spur with only 8,000 miles. Over a year ago I noticed screen freeze. It happened only 2-3 times for brief periods. Since the car was not being driven much during the pandemic, did not notice much after that. For the last several months, it started freezing more frequently, often for extended periods. Every few seconds the screen goes blank, like its trying to reset, but will come back to the Bentley sign. Sometime it would randomly start working but most times it remains frozen. Recently discovered that it is a well known problem to Bentley for many years. They have also issued a Technical Service Bulletin on March 10, 2019 (Transaction # 2030765/8). This is a very serious issue. With frozen screen, one can not see from the back camera while reversing, can not use blue tooth for emergency hands-free phone calls, can not see tire air pressures specially when one may hit a bump on the road and if any of the wheels appear to be vibrating, and can not see ,any other critical information on the screen. Why has there been no recall or limited warranty extension of this system?
Has anyone fixed this issue yet? How?

The maddening thing though is when it DOES decide to work...so nice.
I'm about to replace mine with this:

Hello All,
@ttpopo ,
As I had stated in post number 27 of this thread, as I suggested to @robob , is to pull the unit for a bench test, as I have personally seen where it was not the head unit itself causing the constant freeze or reboot, I have seen the NAV disc drive, Bluetooth module, or CD drive cause the issue on the first generation 2004-2011, I have read here and elsewhere that a failing house battery, AMI, or loose connections at the rear of the head unit have caused the issue on the 2nd GEN, but mostly that it is a sw of hw component inside the head unit itself, that is why a bench test should always be performed first, pull the unit, get a nice clean 12 volt power supply and bench test it for hours, if it doesn't freeze or reboot constantly, then the issue is elsewhere, I have stated this bench testing many times over the years, yet not one person has ever done it, or at least reported back with any update..

Even crazier is how sometimes it boots up right away - other times it does not. One thing is for certain, it s a godsend that the unit is so easy to remove!
I had to pull apart my MAserati dash 3x, that is a HUGE pain. this is not so much. Can you help direct me to a proper 12v Power supply that you would recommend for bench testing?
Johnny
I'll follow up with my findings
