Manual door lock procedure
Manual door lock procedure
Hi, I am hoping someone on the forum can help me with a problem with my 2008 Flying Spur.
I have a failed right rear door module and the door will not lock with central locking. The dealer ordered a replacement 6 weeks ago and it still hasn't showed up.
I recall reading in the owners manual a way of manually locking the door through the hole above the door latch. I can see a red plastic lever through the hole. Unfortunately I have misplaced my owners manual. My dealer has been unhelpful and I am hoping someone here can post the instructions.
I would be most grateful for any assistance as I can't take the car out and park it anywhere because I can't lock the rear door.
Many thanks, John

Hello John,
Depending on where you are in the world, I wouldn't suggest manually locking the door, because, if your vehicle is like others (say in the UK or Europe) with the ROW deadlock door locks, then with your failed door module, how would you unlock the door, if you can test the theory of manual locking by closing the latch with a screwdriver, moving the red lever, then pulling the inner handle to unlock, you could try that, but if it doesn't unlock, at least the door would be open to remove the door panel and latch to work on, if you shut the door locked, and the inner handle does not open the door, you will have a nightmare like others here have.
EDIT: Just for clarification, my video below is how the North America door latches work, with no deadlocks, therefore only one pull of a interior handle unlocks the door lock on said door, my video was made during discussions trying to figure a problem out for a fellow member in Europe, and prior to my understanding of deadlock doors on Bentley's in Europe, hence my comment in the video that, "something doesn't make sense here"..

Dear Johnny
Thank you for your comprehensive reply, much appreciated. Bentley came back to me and tried to tell me the red lever was the child lock (even on the drivers door)! Your knowledge exceeds that of Bentley here in Australia. I think our doors deadlock are like Europe because if the door is locked it takes two pulls on the inside handle to firstly unlock then secondly open the door.
I will just have to wait it out until the part arrives.
Thanks again
John
