2004 Bentley Continental GT - Memory Seats Not Working
Hi all. We have a 2004 Bentley Continental GT.
Memory seats working fine on the passenger side but not working on drivers side. I have checked previous threads which refer to seat calibration procedure being the reason their memory seats were not working. Unfortunately having followed the seat calibration instructions multiple times (including calibrating steering wheel position), there is no improvement for the driver side memory function.
Something else I noticed which I will mention as I believe there is some relevance: the seat cushion forward/backwards is only working in 1 second pulses before needing to lift finger and have the button reapplied to move it again for another second. Therefore, to get the seat moved from far back to far front position or vice versa, I need to press and release the button maybe 20 times. This happens whether I use the cushion button or the forward/backwards arrows on the side of the backrest. The other seat controls on the driver side work normally, in that they continue to move until either I remove my finger from the button or it reaches limit of travel.
I'm hoping someone will have come across this before and it's a simple fix? Would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Really appreciate the suggestion. I've just given that a go and reseated 30A fuse 87 but unfortunately no change even after attempting to recalibrate. I just noticed that the tilt movement also does the weird 1 second movement then stops until I repress the button. Do you know if the seat forward/reverse and tilt share the same motor? Are all the other movements (backrest, cushion extension, seat height) all operated by the other motors?
Done a bit more research and found out that when cars from other manufacturers have seats that only move in increments when pressed then this could be a sign of a faulty seat position sensor.
I’ve ordered a VCDS cable which should hopefully give me some live data to understand what is happening. If anyone knows anything about seat position sensor location for this model that would be really helpful.

anything which does not work as it should, automatically makes the adaptation impossible to be successful and as a result you dont have the memory etc.

Also, I did read some posts on memory seats from other manufactures where it’s apparently “normal” for driver seat to move in increments as this is a safety feature when engine is running. Not sure if this applies to other Bentley Continental GTs though and definitely shouldn’t be behaving this way with ignition on engine off.
I’m leaning towards control module or a seat position sensor. Doesn’t look like anyone else has experienced my exact symptoms so I’m hoping VCDS sheds some further light so I’m not just throwing parts at it to get this fixed.
regarding tilt behaviour as i remember it should work like that:
pressing left/right button on the side of the backrest your whole seat should go left/right to its defined position (continous move no stops)
also when you tilt your seat it should go all the way to the front of the car (continous move no stops)
anyone can correct me pls

Finally got round to scanning the car with VCDS. It's throwing up these 4 faults:
02341 - Position sensor for seat fore/aft Adjustment (G441) 014 - Defective
01448 - Sensor for Driver Seat; Tilt Adjust (G232) 014 - Defective
00997 - Motor for Driver's Seat Position; Fore/Aft (V48) 005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
01903 - Seat Tilt Adjustment Motor (V231) 005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
Is there a sensor causing this? Otherwise, I know the seats have 3 motors. Does the fore/aft adjustment and seat tilt adjust functions share the same motor? If anyone knows which motor could be the culprit with parts diagram I would greatly appreciate!
Thank you.

Replaced the drivers seat control module. No faults showing and memory seats are now working!
Only issue is I'm struggling to assign the memory settings to the key when following the manual. Is there a trick to this, or another way it can be done? e.g. through VCDS?

From my research on parts diagram, I could not find any seat position sensors. I guess that’s why we have to calibrate the seats by moving them to their max positions.
So I thought it could either be the motors themselves or the control module. I thought unlikely 2 motors to go bad, and as they were still working but in increments, I thought more likely to be the control module.

Hello
I found this thread interesting, i have an issue with only the memory of both seats ...
all the settings are working on manual mode, including massage, lol
but no memory , all 3 buttons on both seats doesnt recall any settings ...
I didn't found any error reading the code with ODBC reader ( V-car pro and auto-doctor / EODB / or car-scanner )
i thought about fuses, but all are ok ...
anyway, that darn memory and the reverse tail lights are my lasts issues on my GT ...

Hello! Some thoughts below:
- I'm not familiar with your code scanner, does it query all control modules in the same way as VCDS? So you're sure there is definitely no error codes when querying the driver and passenger seat control modules?
- Is your battery voltage ok?
- Have you tried reseating the fuse and/or disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?
- Did you try calibrating the seats by moving each motor to their maximum positions then holding for 2 seconds?
- Did you try storing new memory (press M for 2 seconds then 1 for 2 seconds) then recall it by pressing 1 briefly?
Any other history you can share about the problem such as when it occurred and did problem occur to both sides simultaneously?
