I need to replace the carpet in mine, so will have to remove the seats & it will give me much easier access.
Hello @Precizion ,
One quick question, do your front and rear seatbelts match in colour, as I only can catch a bit of your passenger side rear belt, which is tan, are the fronts tan, or black, do the belts match as to the build sheet you received from Bentley, I am just wondering how far the interior swap went, and if rear seatbelts are also an issue as to wiring, or even the side curtains.

As to your Auto Electricians thoughts, please ask them for the full scan, and if I may suggest, you should purchase the Ross-Tech VCDS for yourself, as it will save you time and money in short time with scanning to diagnose issues, and it will give you the information required to pinpoint the location of the item at fault.

Here are some screenshots from online searching that gives you the idea as to the N or G designation of a item with a fault, these are just random VAG scans, and not to any Bentley per se.

These are the N, G, and C0XXXX designations for the 2005 Bentley GT, first I will post the passenger side dash airbag and the steering wheel airbag, I didn't post the diagram of the steering wheel airbag, as that is self explanatory.

.

These are the curtain and side airbag N and C0XXXX numbers.

These are the G and C0XXXX numbers for the Crash Sensors.

So, if I didn't say it above, we need the scan to determine just which item is causing the fault, be it, any of the 6 airbags, or one of the 6 sensors, or any of the seatbelts, the letter + number in brackets on the scan will tell us which item is the fault.

I will look closer at your picture of the bottom of dash for missing piece.

Hi Johnny, I just checked through seat belts. Believe it or not, I hadn't noticed that the front seat belts are black but the rears the original beige!
Thanks for the advice on a diagnistic but it would be a complete waste on me. I can just about tackle wiring stuff but computers left me behind!
I did have another thought about the spare blue/grey wired plug. The original seats on my GT had the Massage option, which the Mulliners do not. Could it be that?

Hi Alec,
No, the yellow connectors are strictly for the "Passive Restraint" system, meaning the airbags, seatbelts, and crash sensors, the Massage function would be operated and wired through the seat control module, the seat control module is the black box with plugs on the front and rear of it, there is a module on the bottom of each front seat for the GT.

Being that you have the black seatbelts on the front seats, I am willing to bet that these black seats have the upper tensioner igniters as I showed previously, and being that you have the 2005 style plugs/harness coming up through the carpet, then I am willing to say that you have the 2005 airbag control module that is buried in the forward portion of the center console under the HVAC ductwork, therefore, there is no way to wire the upper portion of the seatbelt in each front seat, and really, there is no need to, all you need is the correct wires (2) to go to the side airbag of the seat.

Upon further investigation looking at your pictures, that appears to be a 5 way (5 pin/slot) connection on your seat, so it would be helpful to know for sure, along with the colour of the wires, same with the tannish brown connector next to it.

As to your electrical technicians thoughts, I think that I would have to disagree, as when a diagnostic scan is done, and the fault says "side airbag fault", I believe it is referring to the side airbag in the seat, not the curtain airbag, BUT, the "N" reference number will point us to the exact culprit.

My further reason for believing it is the front seats, is the fact that you have your original beige rear seatbelts, so no wiring issues with them, and if they didn't replace the rear seatbelts, I doubt they dropped the headliner to gain access to the curtains, because the panels covering the rear seatbelts needs to be removed to drop the headliner to replace the curtains.

Here are the wiring diagrams for the 2005 seat side airbags.

Here is the 2008-09 .

Let's hope your guy gives you the "N" designation number to the fault.

When you have time to tilt the seat, or remove them when you replace the carpets, please take some good pictures of the yellow and brown connectors discussed above.

Also, it's a little odd to me that the Mulliners don't have massage, please post a picture of the control buttons on the side of the seats, if the button is there, then it most likely it because the seats have 2008-09 control modules, and or coding issue.

I am going to sleep now...

Good luck !
Johnny

@Precizion ,
Ok, so no massage function.

I am curious as to what happened to cause the seat change, you say your carpets need to be changed, may I ask why, from the small area I can see in your photo, they look ok.

Did any of the previous owners ever get back to you with any answers ?

What was the original seat colour as per the build sheet ?

I ask above questions and state the following just as an observation as to the information you and I have learned with the differences between 2004-06 and 2007-11 seats,
if the person only replaced the seats as a whole for the Mulliner pattern, or the had leather damage on the original seats, they (and now you) would have been way better off just swapping the upper and lower sections of the leather for the front seats, as the rear just swap out easily, as the rears have no power whatsoever.

During my rebuild, my original front seat frames, wiring, and modules were damaged by the flood waters, but the red leather was fine, so I took the 06 parts vehicle tan front seats and removed the leather, and installed the red leather from my original seats onto them, if the person who did the swap on you vehicle had done the same, you would have no issues as to seatbelts, airbags, etc, and it would have retained the massage function...

Sorry for the pic heavy post... But I really enjoyed doing these seats, and rail trim !

Hi Johnny, as I understand it, the original 'beige' seats were badly worn and the previous owner fancied black (don't have a problem with that). He changed all the seats & door panels, leaving some beige trim (glove box & fuse box covers, lower A post covers & door switch panels). I am dyeing these black. A red car with black interior works for me. The original 'sand' carpet looks naff to me, so will be changed for perhaps dark grey. I also think the Birds Eye Maple insipid against the black so will be replacing it with dark Walnut.

With your extensive research, it seems that the Yellow plug with grey/blue wire is my air bag light problem but so far, I can't find a matching socket under the Mulliner seats. It sounds very obvious but would the socket I'm looking for also have grey/blue wires? I'll be looking under the passengpassenger see if there is the same 'spare plug' under that. Would it be the same wire colours?

Hi Johnny

Help I've done soemthsog stupid! I removed the leather Glove Box cover to dye it (mission accomplished) but putting it back together, I accidentally shut the lid with it all.loose & now can't open it. I think I may have also broken the latch trying to force it open. I can see what might be the 4 x hinge screws underneath but would removing them work?

@Cacican ,
Did you read the entire thread, all your questions are answered...
"valeting" is a term for clearing, and the seats in his 2004 GT were replaced by a previous owner with seats that were manufactured on May 13th 2008, hence the different wiring and connection plug/sockets being mismatched.

Hello @Precizion ,
I do not have these parts, I only had the one set to transfer to my 05GT, in post number 35 of this thread, I showed you the listings from eBay for these pieces.

Just Google "2007 Bentley GT seat rail trim".

Johnny
