The future of the E92 M3...

Hello all as you can see I am a newcomer to the forum, however I have been a lurker for a long time and really enjoy the site. With that being said, the last thing I want to do as a new member is to start WW III (hence the title of my thread) but I must admit.. I'm still not in love with the overall looks of the E92 M3. However i am very drawn to the V8 engine and for some reason I feel that this new M3 is going to become as popular or more popular as our beloved E46. I think the aftermarket for this cars appreance and engine modifications will ultimatly change a lot of peoples minds. My view is unbias I currently own a 2003 M3 and have loved everything about it since they arrived here from Germany. Please without any suppression of opinions and argument there seems to be a lot of intelligent people here who are very informed about BMW, and i would love to hear some opinions about the future of this car. Thanks all.

If you want a V8 just drop an M5 engine in your E46. Its fairly inexpensive and has been done a number of times.

future is very dark.

jk haha
most people dont like the styling of the car and performance isnt too promising for how much money you pay.
you can see several threads about e92 m3 (new c63 kicking new m3's ***, chipped 335i killing higher end cars, etc.)
we will have to see what aftermarket products are available for new m3 :/

Yeah man i have read about both (I'm actually a big fan of the C63 AMG) But i would love to see a CSL come to the states. I know this is never gunna happen but wouldn't it be great if the E92 M3 CSL had a even lighter 3.8L inline six (screw the V8) 4xx hp Engine... (do i dare say) a la the other German boys from Stuttgart lol

I HIGHLY doubt that they will go back to I6 for M3 even if it's CSL.
But based on the performance of e92 m3, I won't count on it. :/

It is not impossible for the CSL version of the E92 M3 to end up in the states. They did it for the 997 GT3 RS and the USA became their biggest GT3 RS market.

I second that the future is not bright. Mercedes is going toward more hard core with the C63, the RS4 is almost a track car, and BMW goes with a softer handling, quieter M3.

Goddamn right! i have never understood why we don't get everything here. this market has enthusiasts of every "cult" status car ever made. i know there are EPA laws that regulate us out of certain cars but in this day and age many of these obstacles can be overcome. the manufacturers are missing out.

just stick another cat on there to be legal and we'll take it off when we get the car.

ps. E92 M3 looks like ****

Hard core with two pedals??

Track car that weighs 4000lbs??

The M3 is still by far the most track-worthy/sports car in the group.
