For the 135i, I expected a $35k-ish base with options at $5k-ish and out the door at $40k-ish. That's why I put an order in.

Surprisingly in Canada that car is only $38,800, which is $10,000 or so cheaper than the 335i. But after options, its going to be well into the $50,000s.

I think that at $35,675, the 135i is right where I expected BMW to price it. The base MSRP (w/ destination) for a 2008 335i Coupe is $41,575. Six thousand bucks is a fair amount of coin to step up to the 335i.

For a 335i Coupe configured as I would order it, the MSRP comes to $45,350. A similarly optioned 135i comes to $39,200 (excl. destination). So, the difference still comes to about $6,000. The question will be whether I like the 335i six thousand dollars more than the 135i, but the pricing isn't so close that it's a foregone conclusion.

(And I secretly hope that everybody is so pissed off about the pricing that there's no demand and I can get one at, or under, MSRP. Soon.)

What were you guys expecting?

A Cooper S moderately optioned is $33 and $38k with a lot of options. A base E92 335 is around $42k as mentioned by Maldicente. This car is suppose to fit between the Cooper S and 335 and that's exactly how it's priced.

I agree. I don't see what people are acting surprised about.

The Tii will still be a relative bargain compared to the M3. It should be around the price of a base 335i.
