Hello to all. I am in the initial stage of planning w/ another M5Board member to investigate rental of an airstrip. This will be in So. FL. where there is a chance to secure an 11,00 ft. runway to do 30 to 150mph run offs or greater.

I need to know if there is sufficient interest to proceed with the plans. To me this would be a blast. It would be open to other sportscars to have as much competition as possible.

Initial thoughts would be approx. $150 per car but this is not certain. I need to know better the level of interest. Please respond as to your thoughts.

If we can make this happen I could see having the event every 3 months if possible. A chance to run your car full out, what great opportunity.

To clarify, I posted on here because I own an E60 M5 (and a GT3) but this would be open to ALL high performance cars. This will maximize the competetive experience.

 

I'd be down. For participating as well as Photography/Video services if you'd like.

I assume you are talking about events like the ones I see on the M5 board all the time (Does Gustav host some of them?) They seem like some good fun. I am sure you could attract a lot of interest.

Where exactly in Florida is it?

 

i can ask about 5 friends who i think would be interested, do you have any idea around when you would do this? also would u consider a c6 z06? a friend has one and it is wicked fast with drag radials.

 

As I said this in its early development stage. There appears to be interest to proceed.

And yes I would want to make this open to other sportscars to better the competition.

I apologize, correction to the original thread. The airstrip planned to be used is 11,000 feet (just over 2 miles).

 

Thats a pretty good sized runway if I am correct?

What size was the runway that Road & Track used for their Standing Mile? I will have to look it up.

Hey j.a. cadet, this idea is pretty much in the tank. After what happened in Ocala recently on that airstrip I highly doubt anyone will be willing to rent me a strip with all our society legal BS these days.

That tragedy has probably sealed the idea shut.

Maybe when the topic cools down.
