Opinions Please?

Alright guys,

my father has been contemplating a purchase for a fairly new(2004-2006) luxury sedan. I know three cars some to mind, either the 2004-2005 BMW 745Li, 2005-2006 Mercedes Benz S500, and the 2004-2005 Audi A8 L. So any input would greatly be appreciated... my dad has his eyes set on the 745Li, but I just want to know if that is a better car when compared to the other two. Thanks!

, Rahul

Of course the answer is "It Depends" you can't go wrong with any of those cars, the A8 and S500 are simple and elegant, the 745 is a little more technologically advanced, which some people love and others hate. If your dad likes the I-Drive and features I would say for sure the 745Li.

Alright thanks guys, we don't want a 5 series because there's already one in the family. I mean, the styling is controversial on the 7 series, but it seems appealing to me. The A8 and S500 are more "basic" or "simple" if you get what I'm saying. Where as, the 745Li is much more "stand out" material, I mean I love all cars, but the 7 is definitely something a bit different. I've been in the 745Li and S500 but not the A8, but between the 7 and the S, I've always had my eyes on the 7.

you guys should definitely get the 7 series if that is what you have your eyes set on and prefer. that is personal.
however, from a luxury sedan standpoint, in my honest and yes biased opinion, the s500 is still and has always been the benchmark...as the m3 is in its category.
i may not be as biased as i sound, as we have had a 750i, one part of the family is bmw, the rest is benz...even the bmw lover, finally said after buying it he should have taken the s500.
agreed the 7 series stying is more pop...but also to me doesnt look like the money it costs. whereas the sclass amy look simple, but its elegant, and you and the rest of the world (if thats what you want) know exactly what it is.
i disagree that the 7 series is more technologically advanced. tell me if im wrong. it also depends on the years you are comparing, but i agree that the idrive makes it appear more advance, but i cannot think of many things it does that the benz doesnt and vice versa...but it definetly has the more modern feeling to it.
I do not see anycomparison between the interior of the s500 and that of the 7 series. zero comparison, i think that is a unanimous feeling, at least amoung the people i know. if it will help you make a decision i can take pics of mine, only if you are considering it, ps mine is older and not clean, but if you want i will do it.

both have great fit and finish , but styling a feel are different.
plush and rich, versus, i think a more modern version that bmw tried to accomplish...
again my two sense.

As in most cases, do whatever your dad wants. I've learned whenever my dad makes a decision it is always the right decision. Even when it is the wrong decision, it is the right decision. Unless you are buying the car for him, let him decide. That way he can never blame anything on you.

Thanks for the replies, ezmoney888, you are right about the fact that it's my father's decisions, but he always likes me to help out. Me and him are both car guys, so he can trust me in making the right decision, but yeah, as long as he's in charge for the decision and is 100 percent focused on it, I won't be to blame, but he has never blamed me for anything in the past thankfully lol. Also, Niqui, if you can, please show me pictures of your car since you kindly offered to. I would also like to mention, your facts are 100 percent correct, mentioning iDrive makes the bimmer seem much more advanced technology wise.
