^^ lol great pics guys

last time we went out to the track a gentleman in a brand new M6 came with to join in the track day fun. i was privileged enough to have the keys tossed to me and have him say lets see what you can do (i think he wanted to drive the viper but we had a hose bust while i was driving his car taking it down for the day) . the M6 is surprisingly nimble and easy to control. i hug the rear end out quiet a few times the car reminds me a lot of what people said about the z3 m coupe you can hang out the rear for days until you get bored then give it a little more power and take it out a little further.

i have never driven the non M 6 series so not everything there is really relevant

I've driven the M6 and I am not a speed demon. You can't speed on the road or else you suffer from speed tickets as I learned as a kid. I only had it out on the drag way so my opinion doesn't count so much. I felt the steering was extremely tight and I am pretty sure it would handle just the same. I love two doors!

The Open Differential in a 645 will not help at all, btw.

this 2JZ-powered beast has not been doing well on the D1 circuit yet...

... so i'm not sure how well you can slide a 6 around as far as everything else goes.

making power is one thing, to be able to handle it on the track is another; how do you plan to dial-in the suspension?

Yeah the m6 has an LSD and the regular 6 doesn't. That plus the huge difference in power will not make it ideal for drifting. I have a 650i btw.

I actually think the 650's power-band would be really fun to drift with, of course an exhaust would have to be installed along-side an LSD so that you could actually HEAR the car more.

One of my biggest upsets with the new BMW's is the lack of exhaust/engine note. Way too quiet.

Wait and go with the M6. At BMW's M School, the M6 is used for all skidpad/drifting instruction. I came away very impressed with the car.
