2011 "" bmw 1m
that car will be a huge let down. they put an engine derived from the pos n54, which is notorious for fuel pump problems. and its still heavy! had they just stuck the s65 into the 1m, then it would be a beast.
and sadly, turbos are taking over ///m. its an end of an era
and bmw has officially jumped the shark with the 1m. no more high revving na cars. this car is PROOF that ///m is abandoning all that makes them who they are. this is why im jumping ship and heading over to check out p cars.

The S65 only weighs 7kg's more.
From the Wikicomparison of the N54 to S65:
"The tuned version of the N54, which is found in the 2011 BMW 335is, has higher low-end torque than the M3's V8 engine, 332 pound-feet at 1500 rpm for the 35is versus 295 pound-feet at 3900 rpm for the M3, and the V8's higher maximum horsepower of 414 hp (309 kW) is only available at 8300 rpm"
I personally prefer the FI motos especially with Kobb and other companies reaching over. Kobb just released access port for the N54 engine. $800 for 100hp and 120ft/lb... THAT is a beast.

You mean the POS N54 engine that took engine of the year along side the S65?

the torque curve for the s65 is (essentially) flat all the way to 8.3k rpm, providing constant power all the way to redline. how is that a bad thing?
regardless of what awards the n54 won, it still is notorious for fuel pump problems. those awards dont make that known issue go a way or mitigate the failure rate. no matter how many awards you decorate the n54, its still a pos with a bad track record. and what does ///m do? they take that engine, modify it, and plop it into the 1m. hell, even bmw is so ashamed of it, they didnt even call it the m1. think about it. if the 1m is so good, why didnt ///m call it the m1?

I follow your logic. I guess, I want that 'pure' machine that BMW made famous. And there are far fewer numbers of people like me, than there are people who want the 'look' of a sports car, but never use it for sport.
Maybe I'm selfish. Those non-enthusiasts can get a 135i, and have all the fun they can handle... But give us back our lightened, nimble, balanced car.

give me, power windows, heat and ac . and im good , thats how the m cars should be raw ...
(The only reason I don't get one is because of ownership/maintenance costs)
Really love the white! Too bad the interior reviews are coming back as similar results of the regular 1 series, lacking quality and finish like the higher models. I really am starting to enjoy the power and drive ability of the 135i and considered a 1M but cannot stand to pay 50k+ (probably 60k in Canada) for a dull interior
Cool car, I was really excited to buy one leading up to the reveal late last year. However I decided the carry over BMW AG engine wasn't going to cut it for me especially at that price. So I decided to go for the new Challenger SRT8 392 instead... to sit along side my M3 keeper.
First comparo by Car & Driver creating quite a buzz over on 1addict.

Excellent showing by TT-RS (3.6 0-60!!) though the 1 came in first which is odd because the article was rather glowing of the TTRS and so so about the 1.
The most damning thing is something I had not heard. "....this is the first M engine NOT bespoke..... it is identical to the Z4's 35is......"
The comments are very similar to what I posted previously in this thread. Good drivers car, the rest, meh....
Oh, and why did C&D bother with the G37?
