2011 "" bmw 1m
Really love the white! Too bad the interior reviews are coming back as similar results of the regular 1 series, lacking quality and finish like the higher models. I really am starting to enjoy the power and drive ability of the 135i and considered a 1M but cannot stand to pay 50k+ (probably 60k in Canada) for a dull interior

This is a drivers car. Pretty it aint.
Agree that for the money, it has to look nice.
I am torn about this car, I want to like it I really do. But seriously this thing is not a real M car in my humble opinion. Same engine as the 335is and Z4is, and since this car does not weigh appreciably less than either car why would they think this engine gives this car M performance?
I love the way it looks, it makes the ugly duckling regular 1 series look very bad. I still don't understand how close the 1 series is in price and weight to the 3 series, but you pay similar amounts to get less interior room.
And please C and D get that TT RS on a dyno, I know its gearbox and gearing is amazing but 113 mph traps with 360 flywheel and 3500 lbs is a pretty spectacular exhibition.

Absolutely Brilliant.......Who does these?
This video describes my exact feelings when I read over the specs for the first time. And its not like we are talking about a high rpm N54 we are talking about the same N54 that countless of mass market BMW's have had as an option.

Funny as ****- 6speed loves the 1m but all the bimmer forums hate it
and do u have any idea whats there reasons for not liking the M1 ?
i love it !
It really for most goes back to the fact that M used to stand for Motorsports now it stands for Marketing. When the E53 X5 came out BMW would not make it a M because it was not fit into there definition of what an M car was. They instead created the iconic and well received 4.6 and 4.8 is which were no less cars because they were not M products. In fact if anything it strengthened the M brand.
M engines were not shared with other cars, the formula was simple. Naturally aspirated , high revving models that fit the M design brief. Manual transmissions were also another part of the design brief. Than the E70 M X5 hit and all hell broke lose. No more naturally aspirated engines and manual transmission. But at least even with this car it retained an M specific engine that was not shared with any other cars.
Fast forward to the 1M, it uses an engine used in the 335is and the Z4 35is. Which is simply a higher boost version of the standard N54. This car in my humble opinion should be called the 135is. Or bring back the M sport line I loved my 330Ci M Sport package. 135is or 135 M Sport would have made a much better package IMO.
I am going to precede what I say by saying that I am attempting to explain why people don't like it. Its nothing personal nor am I trying to slam anyone that does.

I like this car, but I could take a 135i and add M3 suspension components (all directly swappable!!), coilovers, wider rubber, and an aftermarket (better than the stock M3) LSD. Then you add some power with tune and full bolt ons. You can make yourself a faster-than-1M for quite cheap. Ofcourse you don't get the interior, body kit and ///M prestige, but the ///M purists will tell you that you don't own a real ///M anyways. Yet this would walk all over a stock M3 on the track...
