definitely. the mz4 is using the s54 motor, which was used in late generation e36/7 mroadsters and mcoupes from 2001-2003. new generation but same motor (albeit tweaked a little)? isn't that kind of a copout. nontheless, i think it will be a good driver's car, but bmw's reuse of the same motor for 2 generations is a little disappointing...

yes, the s54 is the e46 m3 motor. the earlier M Roadsters and M Coupes had the e36 m3 motor, the s52. after the introduction of the e46 m3 and the s54 however, M Roadsters and M Coupes then used the s54 motor, rated at 315hp.
