It seems like a great car, but I'm hoping it becomes a great platform for modifications. Twin turbo inline 6 putting out 300hp/300tq. I'm praying it becomes the next Supra, though I highly doubt it .

This and the new Mini Cooper S (200hp turbo) should be pretty fun for the aftermarket tuning industry.

Still a Mangle product. Such a shame ... the engineering under the ugly skin is awesome.

I agree. Although the v8 m3 should be an interesting car. I dont want to speculate...but I am guessing that BMW will want to beat the RS4 with the M3.... thus making it a very very fast car indeed.

A turbo v6 car is screaming for mods though. To reduce turbo lag it...the turbo will not be cranked up.... I am guessing with some minor ECU mods you will be able to give this car quite a bit more oomph... not even going to mention what a FMIC, exhaust, and a few other toys will do for it

I think it will be easy to get good power out of it. It's just a bit to heavy for my taste, it's pretty close to 3500lbs. They will probably make the M3 lighter. Anyone know anything about the M3 CSL, are they making one?

Gotta wait until they make the regular one first. I WISH they would make the M3 lighter for the next generation, but I doubt that's going to happen, especially with the new V8.

Why? 300hp is run of the mill for that market bracket now. Most buyers looking for an M3 aren't thinking I will just buy a 3er and mod it up to M status.

Yes it does. Small one spools up at lower revs while the bigger one takes over rather seamlessly.

Twin turbo I6. I wrote a bit about it in the above post. This is a bit more evolved than the typical Audi 4 cylinder turbo setup.

A small turbo and a large turbo isn't a variable geometry turbo. That is a sequential turbo system. I'm not sure if the 335 is a sequential or a twin system or if it has variable geometry turbos (the turbo actually changes it's properties as it spools.

Here is some info on a variable geom. turbo.

sequential turbos are great... The BMW diesel v6s have them ...so maybe they ported the tech to gasoline engines.

when I think sequential turbos I always think 959
