RS60 buying advice?

My mother seems very interested in the Boxster RS60. Don't know much about Boxsters and wanted to see what you guys think about this particular model.

Any options really worth getting?
How much are people getting off of MSRP on these cars?

A local dealer has two in, 1 for $70K and 1 for $73K. I think that is a lot of money to spend for a boxster but she seems to like it alot. What final price point should I reasonably be aiming for?

Thanks!

F1 Kevin

They are pretty Limited in Production I guess it just depends on the Dealer. They is at least 7K markup in the car though .Dealers here in Wa (Barrier) sell them for close to sticker but I have seen some recent posts here about recent Purchases of RS60 .Maybe everyone is working or something ?? I would post this on the Caymanclub.net site as well even though its a boxster you will likely get some great pricing info.Good luck on your quest that RS60 is a dream car ,Simply perfect

the car has a lot of options for free - in other words go to the Porsche build site and replicate as closely as possible and i think you will find the RS 60 is a steal.

I agree.
I also took Bi-Xenon, wind deflector, short shifter, garage door opener, cruise control, Sports Chrono Plus, navi, heated seats and climate control on top of it.

Local dealer (Porsche Of Orlando), was giving me 7K discount without even negotiating... so I would say that 10K discount from MSRP should be possible.

Thanks guys. She is going to get test drive one at the local dealership and then speak to a couple dealers and see which one is willing to work with her.

So on a MSRP $70,015 RS60, the local dealers first price drop is down to $64,000. He claims the dealer cost on the car is $63,000.

Thoughts?

That would only be 10% off, not to mention holdback. If they sold it at cost he should be knocking off about $9k.

As an RS-60 owner, I would say you got a very good first price. I would not look for much more in the way of discount, I think you are there. The dealer needs to make a profit and you should want the dealer to make a profit for future purchase & service considerations.

First of all, why would the dealer sell a truly Limited Edition vehicle at cost? The RS-60 is a 1,960 unit production run with less than 800 units delivered to the US. Why in the world would you think that the RS-60 has 10% or more in profit and further assume that the dealer would sell the vehicle for no profit. I am confident you don't work for free, why should a car dealer? And no, I am not a dealer. I value my relationship with my dealer more than beating him up price wise everytime I want to buy a new car. My RS-60 was $72K MSRP with an invoice of $63,578 excluding transportation, of which I paid $65K making my RS-60 the 3rd new vehicle purchase for this dealer in 2008 and another very fair purchase price.

Second, I have been buying NEW automobiles for 40 plus years (something over 75 new vehicles in forty years in all catagories) and I have NEVER seen a dealer sell into true hold back. If you spec a Boxster S with the same trim level of the RS-60 you will quickly find that the RS-60 is a real bargain! The full leather interior alone is a $6K option on the Boxster S.

The discount allowed F1 Kevin is a significant discount and a very respectable deal on a limited vehicle.

I was merely replying to a post and did not say that the dealer should sell him the car at cost...clean off the bi-focals.

Offer him $63k. If not, and you really want the car $64k is fair.

Your are also not considering any factory incentives that might be in play...
