Bose system
Cayman S 2009
The bose is a good option but a little pricey .I got the 7 speaker sound package upgrade and added a Infinity Amp/Sub basslink and It smokes the sound of the Bose and it still costs less .basslink $175.00 with adjustable bass
If the car you are looking at has it, then its a great option --- i wouldn't go out of your way to find one with BOSE in it. A lot of aftermarket options out there!

If I want the Bose system, I have to wait for the summer delivery. I have one spotted with everything I want except the Bose. What do you thing? Sound quality I believed will be better than the stock for sure, but I don't expect it will amaze me. I have Mark Levison in my Lexus. I think it is just so so. The only thing I concern is the features. Am I missing any function if I just have the Cayman S stock package with PCM?

The stock system is absolutely horrible .
I might be a little biased being a musician but I have to have a kick butt sound system in my cars .I will post some pictures of the Infinity Basslink .
There is a Basslink 1 and a basslink 2(this is what I have) the difference is -
Basslink 1 is 200-watts and acts like a powered subwoofer to your current system/speakers that you already have .
Basslink 2 has 250 watts and you can wire the current speakers in to it or just use it as a powered sub-either way
This system is small and does not take up a lot of space as I have it in the trunk area of my cayman -Its a 10" speaker/Amp combo with a little stand that lifts it off the gound about 1" so you get a really good bass sound .I have the sub on 3 out of 15 volume wize and it provides a great low end .Mounted adjustable bass **** under the dash for bass adjustments .You can get either one on E-bay New under $200.00
I had mine professionally Installed with monster wire/cable for $109.00 so If for some reason I ever wanted to do some custom cabs in the sides of the cayman trunk its already pre wired-you can also replace the current stock speakers with some High Quality speakers to make a Really SWEET system like I did .

This is probably not very useful to you because I can't compare to the standard system, but I have the bose system in my 05 boxster and I'm very happy with it. I'm sure you could get an equivalent or better aftermarket system for the money but I prefer simplicity over customization. I think the sound quality is very good but it's not overly bassy (enough for me but you won't be rattling your neighbours house).
I love music, and cars, but seldom at the same time. All the factory sound systems for these cars are very poor. If you insist on listening to music while driving, you will need to consider an aftermarket system, so I would not waste money on the option. Maybe my opinion is a bit atypical, as I am a middle aged fart with a partial hearing loss, so it takes a fair amount of volume and good resolution for me to hear music with any real appreciation.
