98 Boxster

Is this a reasonable deal?

Car's in great shape and has all service records.

1998, 28,000 miles, both tops, MSRP was $50,205.

asking $19,700.

Thanks

Price I think is above average.
But since it is in excellent shape and all maintenance is done then I'd try and see if you can do $17k for it.

Got my wife's '98 Boxster for 10k...65k miles, MSRP 65k. Check autotrader and ebay for similar cars to get an idea of prices. Pay special attention to the prices in your area.

That price is way too high for a '98:

http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cg...&submit=++++go++++

I've got mine listed on CL for $19,500 but it's a 2002 with 32k miles and a warranty:

Hope that helps.

There is absolutely nothing that would make a Boxster from the 90's be worth more than $15k.

Plastic rear window is a pain. No cup holders and glove box. For $20K I'd get a 03.

Is it possible that Porsches over 10 years old are starting to increase in value? I remember checking the market report that covered Boxsters in one of the past Excellence magazines...last year was the first year that the prices stopped going down on the '98's and actually went up about $1k from the previous year. This was of course before the economy really fell apart.

It may be something to consider...any car that is newer than an '99 will probably still depreciate. The older cars prices are probably as low as they are going to go...and their prices will deviate based on milage and condition from there. Just a thought.

It's always nice to dream isn't it. Check the price of 944 on autotrader. While 944 Turbo price is still around $15-19K, you can have a regular 944 as low as $1900. I'm sure it'll stop going down once it hits that price!

I don't think the boxster will share the same phenomenon as 993 due to # of them made.

Ok. Except a Boxster 3.6L or a fully prepared Boxsterspec race car.
