I have seen it and i LOVE IT!.....but i wont do it while i still daily my Cayman. I just drive too much to deal with the possible heat/dirt/noise that will most likely come from a mod like this.
That being said, once i get a DD in place (next 60 days) i will look to do this as one of my very next mods

i had this cover.
it is cosmetically superior to the other covers but it does generate a lot of the engine noise (mostly the higher pitches whines and whooshes from the belts and intake)
there is a slight increase in heat from the engine as well which i don't mind as much as the sound.
i must say, the looks you get with this and a painted engine are priceless....

Was thinking about it just as a weight savings?? Heck I thought about just totally leaving the engine cover off. Stop by the shop and see my Cay Drew, the modding is beginning dont want you to miss it, also of course it is Speed Yellow!!

I think it looks great. But if you're going to show off the engine compartment, I think you should go ahead and do some custom paint on the motor, like the yellow or blue Cayman's in the above pictures.
