IPD Plenum, my first mod!

A friend of mine was returning his lease Cayman S... and after a good experience with the IPD plenum on my previous 996 TT, I took the opportunity to make this the first mod to my Cayman S. My car is completely stock, so I put the car on a dyno yesterday afternoon to get a baseline reading. My car dyno'd strong making 281 whp. With the car still strapped to the dyno, we swapped out the plenum, it took about 35 minutes...then we dyno'd the car again, this time making 293.6 whp! In the mid range, we saw a peak gain of 15.9 hp at about 5715 rpm and torque was up about 12ft lbs at that same rpm.

My goal was to try to set the whole thing up so that we can get a true measure of the gains by the IPD plenum. With the dyno pulls being within 35 minutes of each other, and the fact the car was never unstrapped should provide a very accurate measure of what my car gained from this mod. Very solid gains, this product works!!!!

My impression driving the car after... low rpm was similar, after about 4k rpm, the car definitely felt more responsive. The car drove the way the dyno showed, it felt like it pulled harder in the mid range all the way to redline. I think with the addition of an intake and exhaust, there may be even more gains out of this plenum. There isn't much change in sound, slightly rougher/throaty sounding... but not necessarily louder so that's good for me at this time as I don't want a loud car. HP is hard to come by on this car so I'm extremely happy with the results.

looks good !!!
I seen lots of dynos that with a flash and a AM exhaust like a REMUS or BORLA you will get 40HP increase solid. good numbers for just a IPD though ,Congrats

thanks porschepet, it's definitely different coming from a turbo car... where a flash would get you 70hp.. now it's 10 here, and 15 there. :P

Ive been driven in a cayman gen 1 with SRP , remus catback exhaust and remap. According to the dyno plots of the owner it was making about 340 hp at the flywheel. Remus system isnt too overpowwering especially if the original exhaust manifolds with primary cats are retained.

we had a NW dyno get together on the 15Th and there was a Cayman S with Borla ,Plenum,Flash and Fabspeed headers that posted some really good#s . The sound was amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8J9i934hww

Congratulations on the results. Of all the performance modifcations conducted to my vehicle, the IPD intake plenum accompanied by the 75mm 997 throttle body has been the most rewarding of them all. Far greater in my opinion than my ECU flash and headers, which I placed in 2nd and 3rd on my list. Highly recommended thus far in my experience in the Porsche tuning world (2nd Porsche, 1st modified). The folks over at Road Sport Supply are a delight to deal with and have surpassed my every expectation in making it all a reality (Thank you Bryan!). Cheers.

Hey Cartel, did you have FVD re-tune when you added the 75mm TB and IPD plenum, or did you let the car adapt by driving around?

Currently, I am awaiting for FVD Brombacher to send me the new file that in which they are taking cues from a Cayman S 3.4L equipped with the IPD intake plenum on the dynograph in Germany. Florian will be in contact with me by the end of this week with new information. My vehicle is runs solid and I have had zero discrepancies with the current setup. I could not be any happier .
