finally getting into a 987 boxster s but need wheel suggestions!

i am finally pulling the trigger on a speed yellow 987 boxster s but it is in need of wheels. I saw a post showing a speed yellow with lobster fork wheels and it looks really good. I am also considering black wheels such as the sportdesign ones. any thoughts? is 19" the way to go?

Too bad we're on opposite coasts. I have a pristine set of these wheels (10,000 miles) with new Continental tires on them that I'll be selling sometime in the next few months (I have winter wheels/tires on the car now).

I would definitely go with 19"s. If you want OEM I think the sport designs look great on Boxsters (I have them on my Cayman as well).

Do a search on the 18" v. 19" wheel issue and you will find plenty of opinions. The consensus seems to be that 19s look better to most people, but that 18s are a good idea if you live somewhere with bad roads (potholes, etc.). The upgraded OEM options and most of the aftermarket stuff are 19s.

You will have lots of wheel options between OEM and aftermarket. I have had my 987 for four months now and my take on which wheels look best is different than when I first got the car. I now really like the 19" OEM Carrera Sport wheels and also the BBSs, but am sticking with my 18" Boxster S IIs because I drive pothole laden roads daily, plus I think they look great too.

what sizes and offsets are these? I am really liking the wheels in this ebay auction as well but the offsets dont seem to be boxster fitment. Is there that much space available?

farfinator is infamous around these parts
Vote: Champion RG5 18" powder coated black.
Then: CF splitter, ducts, mirror trim and wing.
White euro corner lights.
PSS10 kit, lower it about and inch.

Bad ***....Love it in yellow.

-1 19" : Pricey and generally narrower selection of tires.

funny, i was just thinking that actually. if i go with black wheels, i would get the mirror trim, change out the stock wing with a cf one. but the splitter i worry about as i have a steep driveway and currently scrape even on my sedan. the picture psoals has of his car really make me consider going with the silver finish though..looks really clean!

Congrats on your car! SY is a great color.... Let's see some pix!!

The great thing about SY (similar to red) is that black makes a great contrasting color. Here is a picture of my car with 19" Champion RG5's from last year...

Front radiator grills, side vents, exhaust surround (see below pic) along with the washer nozzle are finished in black in above picture.

The back-side has a Cayman spoiler instead. You can find my write up on the swap here.

Since these pictures, I've swapped to black side mirror housings and added the RS60 splitters in SY.

The next (probably last) "for show" mod on my list is to have the wheels either painted or powder coated black.... I'll probably do that when I put new rubber on them (they're now are @ wear bar)

How about black with thin stainless trim along the edge like the BBS CH-R at Tirerack

Congrats on the new 987 The black OZ's from tire rack are a great deal bc those wheels are so strong and don't bend like the cheaper knock offs found on eBay and keep you at a reasonable price point plus Damon and tire rack are a incredible vendor.
