987 Cayman S radio issues
987 Cayman S radio issues
Hello
Lately, I've noticed that my radio has been acting buggy.
For example, the preset will be 102.5 but then the radio will change by itself to AM740 and then back to 102.5.
It's the little things really. But it's freaking annoying to be listening to a good song and then have the radio "make it's own mix"
Anyone else with this issue? Covered by Porsche's warranty? Car has less than 5k miles 2008.

I had a different issue with my radio (can't power on or if it's on, I can't change stations)... dealer reset the unit first time. It acted up a few months later, and they replaced with new CDR-24 when I went back a second time.
When I sent my 2010 987.2 in for service the dealer asked me whether I have problems with the radio. I said I have none. The rep said the radio has some known issues and Poresche is aware of it. May be this applies to you.
I have an '03 911 Turbo and this exact problem started for just a couple of days ago. Seems to always involve 106.9/740 and some other station. If I press the manual (MAN) button, the station will hold. Someone on another forum thought this might be related to the traffic alert feature on the radio (I don't have any confirmation of this). Does anyone know how to turn off this feature. When I press TP, all I get is "MUTE".
a240reef, A known Issue is that at random times, a station will jump to a differnt channel without any input to the unit. This is caused by whats called ID codes. Radio stations can share ID codes, as in Louisiana has a station102.9 with the same station ID code as 94.1. Im guessing the stations, as it has not happened in quite a while. Which ever station is recieving the stronger signal (based on this code) the radio will automatically switch to the stronger station. I have been told this is a European "thing" which you are able to cross the continent without ever loosing reception because the radio switches to the station with the stronger code signal. Please dont quote my terms, (id codes). As I havent had to diagnosis this issue in quite a while and my notes are not with me. To help with this, the dealer would email PCNA and request the stations to modify the Codes. Since I havent seen this issue in a while I would consider it resolved in my area. Please dont use this as gospel, your car may have a differnt issue but would like to pass on good information.
sorry no help on your station switch issue...
I can comment on the CDR24 just locking up tho... Mine has locked up 2-3 times in 2 years... I just pull a 10Amp fuse in the row 2nd from bottom in the footwell fuse box (quick help shows it pretty easy).
P-car stereos are pi$$ poor... (good thing the engine sounds so sweet)

They are called PI codes... Program Identifier.... only way to really "fix" it is to call up one of the stations program managers and kindly ask to change the 4 digit code, so its different from the other station that has the same PI code. good luck lol.
