Yes. All new brake pads, certainly ceramic, must be properly bedded-in - especially prior to racing.

Thnxs Pastor Steve,

Yes indeed I concurr with you but any mileage or treatment for the Ceramic ones?

My question comes because I have a 2010 ZR1 with carbon ceramic brakes and in the car manual there is a set of special instructions for their brakes breakin, like 50 repetitions from 60 to 0 mph continuosly etc.

It will probably be best to call the manufacturer of the brakes for their recommended break-in procedure. Most recommend controlled breaking from 30-35 mph to 0 around 10 times then increase speed and do controlled stopping again. So I would check because each may be different.

No offense but this is the Porsche cayman/boxster section .
For a correct answer to your question I would go to the American muscel or a vete section..every car is a little different . Love the vetes as well .

If you look at the OP's title it is for "Porsche ceramic" brakes. I believe he is saying that he also has a Camaro with ceramics and wants information for the Porsche brakes.

well then "50 repetitions from 60 to 0 mph continuosly etc" should break them in but that seams a little excesive .. maybe 10 to 15 should do the trick IMO ..

If you send me a PM I can send you a PDF of a 3 part article from issues 48, 49, and 50 of Total 911 that cover the PCCB's quite thoroughly.

Break in for the PCCB's is covered as well.

Or you can visit Total 911 and follow the links to order the 1st 50 issues on CD for under around $36 (USA) which includes the price, shipping and a small currency exchange rate free.

The CD has the articles in all their glory (and color!).

Sincerely,

Macster.
